I havnt played a board game in the longest time. I went to a store near my house the other day and realized that I have no idea what most of the new games are. Also never realized how expensive games are! Most ranged around $50. Thats a bit too much for me to risk on a game I am not sure if I will even enjoy.

Do some research on boardgamegeek.com - you can sift through the ratings and genres until you find one up your alley.

And it's ridiculous that Go is rated so far below Chess. Chess is a battle and Go is the war.

Arkham Horror is my favorite board game (along with Battlelore). I own almost every expansion. It's a co-op game, though, so you might not be into that genre.

I will propose a date soon for T13 for a night in September. Could do it in my boardroom. Looks like you need a big table.

To be honest - I'm not even bothered if I just watch as there seems to be a decent number of people wanting to play.

I ordered the game variance for Game of Thrones board game. I guess it has new character cards and a different initial setup to more accurately reflect Westeros at the beginning of ADWD.

Sentry Box has a lot of the popular games for rent - $5 / week. If you want to buy the game at the end of the rental, they'll put the $5 toward the purchase of the brand-new game. They also sell their old rentals for pretty cheap, too, if you don't mind used.

I've never played Arkham Horror...the sets are horribly expensive and my board game money goes to Dominion (does that count as a board game? It's more of a card game...)

Twilight Imperium is freaking awesome! We always draw random races and the last time we played I landed the sun god dudes that start off with a warsun. Game over.
