Draft lottery
Hey folks
With the draft lottery today (that snuck up) I just wanted to remind everyone on how this works for us.
We use the NHL draft lottery results and map to our reverse standings, including any picks from teams that we don't have (e.g. Vegas, Boston, Winnipeg). That is only for the lottery part, beyond that those picks are just skipped. So for instance if the NHL Avs win the lottery, their pick maps to the CPHL Canuck pick.
Here's how each picks matches. I haven't gone through and show who actually owns each pick. Will do so later before or after the lottery, or someone else is welcome to add that.
Colorado Avalanche 18.0% - CPHL Vancouver pick, owned by Vancouver
Vancouver Canucks 12.1% - CPHL Montreal, owned by habs
Vegas Golden Knights* 10.3% CPHL Flames, owned by Flames
Arizona Coyotes 10.3% CPHL Blues, owned by Wild
New Jersey Devils 8.5% CPHL Isle, owned by Vancouver
Buffalo Sabres 7.6% CPHL lighting, owned by Flames
Detroit Red Wings 6.7% CPHL Sabres, owned by Dallas
Dallas Stars 5.8% CPHL Stars, owend by Pitt
Florida Panthers 5.4% CPHL Preds, owned by Preds
Los Angeles Kings 4.5% CPHL Canes, owned by Canes
Carolina Hurricanes 3.2% CPHL Wings, owened by Wings
Winnipeg Jets 2.7% CPHL Jackets, owned by Dallas
Philadelphia Flyers 2.2% CPHL Rangers, owned by Dallas
Tampa Bay Lightning 1.8% CPHL Leafs, owned by Wild
New York Islanders 0.9% CPHL Sharks, owned by Habs
Any questions?

Wait, so do I have a 8.5% chance or a 0.9% chance? Or do I have a chance at all?

The first column is the NHL lottery ball and odds, the second column is how that maps to the CPHL pick equivelent NOT who owns that pick.
You own NJ's CPHL 1st so you have no chance.

CPHL NYI own CPHL NJD pick. CPHL NJ are not in the lottery draft as they finished 2nd overall in regular season. You have zero chance to win the lottery.

So since the Devils lost in the first round, how does that mean my pick stacks up?

We will post the full order after the lottery (perhaps not today) but we follow reverse standings outside the lottery.

5.8% chance for the Pens to grab the top pick. In other words I'll start studying for the 8th pick.

CPHL Canucks have way better luck than the NHL Canucks.

CPHL Dallas maps to NHL Dallas so Pitt has that one (#3)
You have the Philly pick so you got 2nd overall.

You probably aren't accounting for the Vegas pick.
Check what's in the first post of the thread. That's how it maps.
