Isn't the trophy just a family-sized bag of Lays?

Gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a ****?

I think I'm just bitter that the Flames are out and the Oilers are still in.

The time may come to move on from Gio, but it's not now, and it's not in the near future.
Unfortunately when that time does come it will be very similar to Wideman, where not a team in the league will go near that contract for his performance level.

Hopefully it's with 1 year left in the contract and not 3.

When you have coaches, GMs and players from not only the Flames, but around the league singing his praises, I think you've got a keeper for captain.

Was there? I absolutely feel the team lacked leadership but I don't fault Gio as I feel you need more than one leader on a team as you need players that lead and step up on the ice and I'm not sure if the Flames get enough of that given their top line contains some of the younger players on the team. Brouwer for example surely isn't being paid $4.5 million for his gaudy stats. If Engelland is a leader then why is he the last guy leaving the ice on maybe the worst line change in the history of the NHL?

I will always be on the trade Giordano bandwagon as long as the return makes sense as that contract will take a turn for the worse and there's no way around it. I just think the timeline of his effective years isn't in line with the team's timeline where they should be (if they never are then I suppose none of this matters) cup contenders. It's really easy to say in the first year of his six year deal "I told you so" but we all know how hard fans are going to be on him on the back end of that deal where it could get ugly. I would rather avoid that if possible.

Lol, that's a reach. Wideman had never been close to Gio's level.

Fair enough, look at the drop off this year for Wideman and he's 34. It won't be pretty when the prettys gone with this contract and a 40 year old Gio.

So how'd Gio lead the Flames in his first post-season escapade?

I think people have a problem with his contract...not his leadership.

That is my case. I think Gio is a great guy but think his long term contract at his age is going to become a big piano on the back of the Flames with time.

Probably still on the Oilers payroll so there was a conflict of interest.

Did I miss something? When were the 2006-07 playoffs stricken from the record?

I am still astonished that McDavid did not win this. I mean, he tapped Draisatl on the shoulder and said "Let's go" ... ...

This on the front page of NHL.com now too. Seems strange to announce awards this early no?

This is a nothing award that is decided on the basis of arbitrary criteria by a consulting member of the Oilers organisation that no one cares about. It is fitting that it is announced separately. Enjoy your free bag of Lays chips, Nick Foligno.
