When your boss goes on tv and says "Willie has bought into playing the young guys" and the game that night has two young guys scratched and Megna with the Sedins, you sort of put yourself in a bad place.
Just my opinion, but I don't think it really mattered all that much who played wing with the Sedins this past season as both those guys are long past their best before date. They never were the fleetest of foot, but it really was exposed this past season.

What?

They were exposed because they were our only line and got keyed in on. They will still probably get another 50 points next season.

Am I the only person that gets Travis Green and Darcy Tucker confused all the time?

Probably, yes.

But I do none-the-less.

Nope!

Me and you are in this canoe together! Done this since they played together in Toronto.

Which I believe highlights what other posters have been saying regarding Willie Desjardins. A lot of fans and media roasted Willie for player deployment/usage, yet a poor season from the Sedins was a key component of the Canucks struggles last season.

They are going to get a good foundational player in the first round to go with Juolevi so they are at least adding building blocks. They just have to be patient and stop making idiotic free agent signings like they did last summer.

I am not convinced. It would surprise me to see either Sedin hit the 50 pt. mark again. They are both almost 37-years-old, and have shown a fairly steady decline in production over the past two or three years.

Travis Green thinks there are lots of great young players in the Canucks organisation. "The list is long."

Maybe they had a poor season because they spent most of it with Jayson Megna.

It's a contract year for them I'm sure they will hit fifty points or better.they didn't not have a skilled winger for the entire season they also played with megna and labate so that did not help.

I feel they may retire after the season so I don't think that they will be playing for another contract.

Yeah, if the Sedins are playing hockey in 2018-19 it will most likely be in Sweden.

Neither of the Sedins finished in the top 90 of NHL scoring this past season. I think it's a specious argument to assess the drop in their performance to being saddled with Jayson Megna for the majority of the season. Benning brought in Loui Erikkson to play alongside the Sedins and that didn't work and also had Brandon Sutter with the twins for several games with mixed results.

They have both stated that if they are not playing for the Canucks, they are not playing.

Iain MacIntyre‏@imacVanSun

OK, he said it. Trevor Linden just told me the #Canucks are "rebuilding," which we all know. #R-word

It's not like they started with Megna. They had no chemistry with Erikkson.

.....in the NHL. Doesn't mean they won't play for a season or two in the SEL.

Was never quite sure why this guy was seen a big time coaching prospect, but obviously I don't know much about him. Just always weary of these guys in the AHL who are seen as the next big coaching star when so many end up washing out.

No. They have said that their professional hockey career ends in Vancouver.
