My guess is it is already lined up. For some reason, speculation on a couple forums that it is Jon Rahm.
Edit- oh, nevermind that. Rahm has already said it isnt true.

For whatever reason the star players struggled this weekend, even under easy conditions, and they would have struggled even more on a tougher course.
If anything a harder US Open course hurts the better players and produces surprises as luck plays a much bigger role. Plenty of no names have won recently and plenty of stars have failed to win. Phil Mickelson for example has won the Masters, the major with the easiest conditions, three times yet has never won the US Open.

Huh? the best players "usually" compete for major wins because the best players are just that...the best players. on tougher courses talent, nerves and experience should rise to the top.
In 2000 Pebble Beach was set up so tough some players were calling it almost un-fair but in the end four of the top 15 players in the world finished in the top 5.
And of course Tiger won by 12 strokes and was the only player to break par.

Ames with a top 10 on the Champions tour, with a T-9. He tossed out 2 double bogeys on Saturday which really hurt.
Still, he's climbed up to 6th in the Schwab Cup race. He'll have his work cut out to keep climbing up the ladder, but he's getting there. (and no one is catching Langer)

Brooke is in 4th, 3 shots back going into Sunday.
This is the major she won last year so she has a chance to repeat. She's in the second to last group
Stephen Ames also having a good week at the Champions Tour US Open. He's T8 going into the final day. Perry and Triplett are running away from the field, but Ames can still put in a top 5 if he has has a good day tomorrow.

Brooke with an eagle putt on 18, one off the lead.
Big bounce on the eagle putt and it costs her the eagle. She stopped about 1cm short. Birdie ties her for the lead.
Kang, in the group behind, hits the fairway with the tee shot.

Too bad about that missed eagle. Kang birdies 18 and wins. Brooke finished 2nd, great result.

And Ames finishes in the Top 10 again. Should be a good payday given it's a major.
He bogeyed 2 of the last 3 holes otherwise he'd have been solo 5th.
And on the web.com tour, Michael Gligic, whom i'd never heard of, finished 8th. He hails from Burlington and has conditional web.com tour status based on a 105th place showing in Q-school. Some may know him from a 2012 Canadian Tour win of the ATB Classic. Cool. Only his 2nd web.com tour start this year.

Big Thursday on the PGA Tour, with DeLaet, Hearn and Taylor all in the top 10 through round 1.
On the LPGA, Brooke is playing but didn't have a great start today.

The 3 Canadians remain in the top 12 through 2 rounds. Delaet had himself into 4th before bogeying 16 and 17 to drop back to T-12

Wow, four Canadians at -6 or better today. Hopefully that translates into some better finishes going forward.

I remember hearing his name a lot as an amateur. He's a 20 year old playing on the European tour now.

Remember when Rory was the best in the world like not even 3 years ago? What a steep fall since. Amazing he's still ranked this high.

He hasn't been that bad. Certainly not playing like the best in the world, but he has 5 top tens this year and has played in less than a dozen stroke play tournaments. He finished off last year by winning 2 of the fedex playoff tournaments.
