When Don last had a job in the NHL, the Flames were still in Atlanta.

I agree they are too small, but its not like they did well last year either...people talk like they did for some reason. It was the worst season in franchise history but at least other teams were scared

When people retire they become stupid?
Go ahead - show us you know more about the game than he does.

He knows a great deal about the game in the 70's. His views are obsolete.

When people can't get another job they retire. Cherry knows how to talk to a camera

His style is obsolete. His knowledge isn't. Though he obviously goes overboard at times.

That inexplicably still gets air time 40 years after his best before date. I guess those Rock 'Em Sock 'Em VHS tapes don't sell themselves.

The dude is 80. He's been out of the game for decades. Yeah he knows a lot but just like John Madden you wouldn't want him anywhere near a professional team in this day and age. I would rather listen to a player that recently retired over a guy like him that's been a spectator just like us and massive Leafs fan for decades.

He has? He has more connection to the game that most of the posters on this board will ever dream off....combined.
Flames are small and soft, deal with it and leave the old man alone.

Clearly not, since Don is not retired and he's been stupid for decades.

The Flames are butter soft. I'm not referring to fighters either. They are soft in the corners. Along the boards and in front of the net at both ends of the ice.
They are not in slightest a physical team to play against.

Flames are fine and Cherry is an old man that's no longer relevant.

A lot of people pump this guys tires but the fact is that he was a mediocre player and average at best head coach in his time that some people believe is supposed to be relevant in his 80's as a hockey guru? He only got a media job because he was flamboyant not a great hockey mind. We aren't talking about Scotty Bowman or even Darryl Sutter and other coaches that won cups or had long winning careers as a head coach. He was a mediocre coach and player and is no more relevant than having say Craig MacTavish would be at 80 years old giving his opinion on a current game that he hasn't been a part of for decades. Irrelevant.

What you were really expecting playoffs? Just being above .500 at this time of the year is a massive win for a team that most pundits thought would finish 30th overall. Fact of the matter is the team is about a year ahead of schedule which is nothing to pout about.

It's not about the record, it's about how they lose. They get outmuscled too much. How many goals are we letting in because we lose a board/net battle. How many are we not scoring because we loose these battles?
Flames are small. That's not an opinion, that is a fact.

Has very little to do with Canadian hockey history (no more than Dallas Eakins)
The man is famous for broadcasting, don't confuse the two
You don't consider Ben Mulroney an important part of Hollywood history just because he talks about them
