Twas the night before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas Flames fans were elated,
Singing Oilers are no good and their fans are deflated.
A sweater was hung from a stall with great care,
Fans hoping Sam Bennet soon would be there.
Jooris was home sleeping all snug in his bed,
He was dreaming 'bout thoughts inside of his head.
Hartley told Jooris would you please get a place,
Away he did snore with a huge grin on his face.
When out in the stands there arose such a clatter,
No need for a script to know what was the matter.
The Devils were 2 up with mere minutes to play,
The Flames find a way to the Devils dismay.
Another year later and things are much brighter,
Respect is coming in from many a sports writer.
Injuries wreaked havoc it becomes a great test,
Prospects were called up and you know the rest.
With a pair of defencemen, so lively and quick,
How could they not be an allstar fans pick.
Their transistion game left many teams fuming,
Trying to stop them became all consuming.
Skate Hudler! Go,Johnny! Bob Hartley would shout!
On Bouma! On Jooris! This team would grind out!
To the end of the ice! They hustled with speed!
To the corner! To the net! That's how we succeed!
The clean shaven ice was glistening like gold,
Seeing Jooris play was a sight to behold.
He came out of nowhere the writers would exclaim,
Fans were quite happy that he was a Flame.
Treliving was troubled, as he cleaned up his work,
The losses are mounting, he shouted over to Burke!
Hartley was baffled to explain the teams fall,
Our scoring has dried up and we've hit a wall!
He spoke not a word, Hudler went off to his work,
Mentoring Gaudreau, this pleased Brian Burke.
Out on the ice, the chemistry was growing,
It didn't take long for the duo to start scoring.
Johnny oh Johnny is a fans true delight,
This kid is so talented with a future so bright .
Mature beyond his age with a skill set to match,
Winning the Calder could be his prized catch.
He was slim and quite small, a pint sized type player,
D men would cringe , as thier nerves would get frayer.
With a move to the left, then a move to the right,
Around he would go, flicking on the goal light.
Down on the ice surface Flames players were skating,
Crashing and banging till the boards started shaking.
You could hear players saying in the glistening Dome light,
Merry Christmas Flames fans and to all a good night!
