Icon40 Douglas Murray to Pittsburg for 2013 and 2014 second round picks

Pierre LeBrun@Real_ESPNLeBrun1m

Am told the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Douglas Murray from the San Jose Sharks... trade call still pending

Boston will probably be looking to make a move now, can't let Pittsburgh be the only team that starts to load up.

Jonathan Willis@JonathanWillis1m

No regular #Sharks defenceman is on the ice for more shots against (rel. to ice-time) at 5v5 than Douglas Murray.

Pittsburgh is looking like the cup favorite right now (depending on the return for Murray)

Teams are going to pay big for help, its looking great for us as a selling team

Interesting. I wonder if San Jose will get back the Penguins first rounder in the deal.

Depending on the return, solid deal for Pittsburgh. Murray is a solid player. Ryane Clowe and Dan Boyle will get shipped out too. Interesting that San Jose is going the other way for a change.

Edit: Whoops, that's just talking about a "reported" trade.

Loading up is a relative term. People love Murray because he looks like a giant but he's a liability on the ice 90 percent of the time.

Is Murray an upgrade on what they have?

He looks so slow out there can't imagine him being an upgrade over the rookies or Engelland.

Pens are stocking up! I read they still have (had?) 7M in cap space left...

I think he's an upgrade on Engelland.

If not an upgrade, he's equal and is more physical between the whistles.

Old team on the outside looking in, making prudent hockey decisions.

I love the early activity.... It's only going to make other GM's panic and make pressure deals that benefit the seller. I hope Feaster is better at talking to other GM's than he is to the media and fans. His new slogan should be "your answers are in our room!"

Pitt knows they are likely to meet the Bruins in the East Conference Finals. If so they need to be able to handle the Bruins size, as it can wear you down in a 7 game series.
