There have been some unbelievable trade proposals thrown around in the last while, but Gaudreau for Gostisbehere might be the worst one yet.

Gaudreau has proven to be an elite player. Gostisbehere has one partial season where he put up elite points (while being a nightmare defensively). How many times have we seen a young defenseman put up points in their first year, while being sheltered, but then struggle to become real defensemen?

But Gaudreau is the one you want to give up on???

Then justifying it by saying he doesn't fit with the coach?

Who's likely to be here longer, Gaudreau or Gulutzan?

And if Gaudreau continues to struggle under Gulutzan, that only shortens GG's likely tenure.

Agreed, unfortunately. Boyle would be a great add for the Coil and could be the exact thing they are missing upfront.

McD, Nuge and Boyle down the middle would be pretty tough in the Playoffs..

Hate to pile on about gaudreau in the trade rumour thread so sorry....

Gaudreau has suffered, in my opinion, as the flames have forced his game away from being a transition and rush based offense. Instead, the controlled 5-man breakouts allow opposition to be in good position rather than scrambling back into their own zone.

Giordano, brodie and Wideman's offensive skill didn't just fall off a cliff, but our d have also suffered a massive reduction in rush chances.

So you move Giordano. You don't move a young impact player with a decade of high level hockey ahead of him. Where's the microscope up the ass of Giordano or Brodie? Outside of Wideman, these two are the biggest busts on the team this year. Gaudreau has not been great, but he is hardly the biggest problem on this team.

Marc Savard would argue that it goes much higher than the fans in Calgary.
