Probably nothing, they send McCollum down to the ECHL every once in a while so he gets starts, then call him back up.

He is not a 4th liner. Maybe he fits with Monahan and Gaudreau but Ferland up there is better having a big body on the line that will stand up for his teammates is important considering the liberties other teams have taken with Gaudreau this year

I cant stop thinking about Duchene or Landeskog on this team. I wonder what it would take to get one of them. I'm a huge fan of both players.

Would something like this work?

2017 1st, 2017 2nd, One of our best prospects (hickey, kylington, andersson etc) and Any player we dont plan on protecting in the expansion draft.

Imagine Landeskog or Duchene in our top 6. That would do so much for us. Landeskog would solidify our top 3 lines LWers as the best in the league. Duchene would move Bennett to the wing and give us Backlund, Monahan, Duchene down the middle. Both would be really good for our depth. Landeskog really fits with the identity this team is trying to build.

Just have a feeling Colorado is probably going to be asking for a lot more than that.

Heck i'd even do a deal centered around TJ Brodie. Call me crazy but we've got about 10 young skating offensive defencemen type prospects coming through and TJ has had only 1 really good season.

2017 1st, 2017 2nd, TJ Brodie for Landeskog or Duchene. ??

Call me crazy, but I don't really see how that improves the team. Chiasson is fine on the 4th line, Brouwer is playing well with Bennett & Versteeg. Slotting Vrbata in & demoting Brouwer makes the team softer, IMO. That's no good.

Ferland has looked good on the Gaudreau-Monahan line for a few games now, but I wouldn't count on him taking up permanent resident there. Remember, he's had stints playing with those guys before, and he always plays himself off the line. Gulatzan needs options if/when Ferland goes cold, and Vrbata is a better option than Chiasson.

true. I think it'd improve depth and injury cover though and gives them options in case Ferland hits a wall again. In the lines I posted, Brouwer and Vrbata can play up and down the lineup, no problem. Chiasson is a decent 13th forward in that scenario too.

Sorry, forgot about Versteeg. Keep him with Bennett and Vrbata and move Brouwer down.

We can't just bank on Ferland maintaining this level. I'd rather have to figure out who we demote than having to figure out who we can promote.

Consider the Flames first two months and that there are no loser points in the playoffs...a run isn't as far fetched as some seem to think

A HALF decent October-November and this team would be fighting for a division title, likely pulling away

not to mention top players not playing up to snuff and Wideman on the ice half the game earlier in the year

This is not the bubble team of days past IMO
