Meuller signs 1 year 2 way deal with St. Louis
I was going to put this in the minor signings thread but thought it deserved its own since he was someone people around here were thinking about for the Flames.

The Blues have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with forward Peter Mueller. #stlblues

Probably a good deal but aren't they already decent enough without him?

Damn.. That team is becoming stacked... Hopefully for them, they can all gel and do some damage in the West. I would like to see them be successful for no other reason than it would be nice to see Blues fans rewarded for being so patient.

Teams should always be looking to add depth.

Good move for the Blues.
Pretty sure Mueller was at his best in Colorado when playing when Statsny (went on that tear to end the season after the trade from PHX) , if he can stay healthy they might be able to add a top 6 winger for the league minimum.

Great depth player for sure. The Blues look good without him but if there are injuries he can step in and not make the team look bad. IF he plays to his potential, he makes them a lot better.

Not sure whatever happened to Mueller. All the skill in the world but was never able to translate it onto the ice at the NHL level. Maybe playing on a team like Stl will help out his game.

I always felt it was the concussions that sidetracked him early in his career.

You could be right. He did have a history of some nasty concussions early on. Hopefully he gets it back going.

Nice signing, but where's he going to play? Team is stacked, not high end stacked mind you but lots of quality depth. 9 or 10 forwards ahead him on the depth chart by the looks of it. That's not counting guys like Rattie knocking on the door

Very good chance the Blues expose Paajarvi to waivers this season IMO.

Andy Strickland@andystrickland55 secs
#stlblues have been interested in Peter Mueller since last April. Signs for $700/$250 with $350 guarantee

I would throw in a claim for him for sure.
Hitchcock would have given him some coaching, a big body and still young.

Echo that. Worthwhile reclamation project. Probably wouldn't make it past the Sabres on the priority list but if he got to the Flames take a chance on him he only has a year left on his deal so low risk.

Where would he play? Last thing we need is another LW tweener. He'd probably be ok on a team lacking depth on the wings, but that's not really a problem we have. We lack high end depth, but I don't think he helps with that, he'll just block our existing LW prospects and I'm not convinced he's a better option than Baertschi or the like anyway.

Not sure why Mueller chose to sign with the Blues, as already mentioned they have strength in depth, so he is going to need to see about 3-4 injuries before he gets to play on the big club.
For the deal he signed I would have expected him to pick a club that would have provided more opportunity to play in the NHL, rather than the AHL. The only reason I can see him signing with the Blues is that he is hoping to get in at least one playoff game and get his name on the cup if they win it all
