Default Parking Downtown

Oh the vast knowledge of CP...

I avoid downtown like the plague but unfortunately I have two crucial meetings I have to attend downtown tomorrow and next week. I plan on driving down and using the convention centre parkade...but I'm curious...how quick does that fill up? If not...any other recommendations?

If you're there by 9:00, that parkade will have vacancy.

What end of town are you coming/going from? That makes a difference. You want to park on the same side you come from so that when you leave, you aren't stuck in gridlock trying to get back to the other side of downtown.

Another option is the Eau Claire parkade. The Centre Street lower deck makes that one relatively convenient.

And hopefully you're not concerned with price. Expect to pay up to $30, depending on where you go. The Convention Centre is $25 now, I believe.

Definitely depends where you go. My office is on 11th AVE and 1ST SE and there's a lot across the street that had vacancy all day. They charge $16 for the day.

If your meeting is downtown near the tower or olympic plaza, that would be a pretty short walk.

There is a parkade at 9th ave and 3rd street that is a big enough ripoff that you can get a spot all day. 25 or 27 for an outdoor parkade.

Why would you do such a thing? Working downtown is AWESOME! Especially in the summertime!

I would hate to work outside the core.

Thanks guys for all the replies...both times they'll be around 6 av and 1 st (SE for one meeting and SW for the other) and both are before 8 so I'll probably goto the convention centre one than. But I'll make note of all these other ones incase I get stuck in a jam.

Weird thing is, if these meetings go as planned I'll probably be forced to work downtown. I think its just the traffic/parking issue that's my main beef with it. With my current job I'm usually up too early in the morning that I avoid all traffic and leave late enough that I just catch the tail end of rush hour.
