I'll let you know how Whitefish North & South are looking this weekend. That's my plan for tomorrow

Nice. I did the advance booking, which cost me an extra 5 per person/round. May long is a very busy weekend there, so didnt want to chance the 48 hr booking. Im not a fan of meadowlake at 70US/round, but my brother really likes the course.

I don't want to put sun screen on my arms. Has anyone used these sleeves to block UV in the summer?

Why not go for a long sleeve shirt instead?

http://www.amazon.com/adidas-Climaco.../dp/B015L3S0NO

These are popular for golfers in Oz and look much better than wearing a short sleeve shirt with added sleeves.

Delacour is definitely best bang for the buck within an hour of the city IMO. Innis fail is great value I you're willing to drive a bit further.

Water Valley is great if it isn't a wet season, D'arcy Ranch is great value if it isn't too windy. Livingstone is basically a poor man's (9 hole) Priddis right now, if they add another 9 it will be tremendous value. Just can't replicate that terrain and scenery.

For any Priddis members or those who know some and are able to golf there, the changes they made this year to the Hawk are pretty unreal. Unmatched views in the region, definitely something special.

Third round of the year today, made four birdies for a 76, one off my personal best.

Nice to have a 76 under the belt already in April.

Last week I was out biking at sibbald flats and noticed the living stone golf course. I had never heard about this course before, has anyone Tried to tame this beast?

Played Speargrass and Water Valley this weekend.

Both courses were in really great shape. The greens at Speargrass were rolling really nice, incredible how nice the greens are in April. So nice to have an early jump on the season.

Looks to me that Water Valley is starting to invest significant money into the course. A couple of greens that are usually struggling look really good. Lots of drainage work looks to be going on and a lot of new sod being laid. As many of us know it's a real gem of a course and Im looking forward to playing it again mid season.

Not a fan of Blue Devil or Glen Eagles at full price, but would have to say, they are both worth it at 50% off.

Damn it felt good walking off Blue Devil, having only spent $55 with a med bucket of balls and taxes in.Forgot what it felt like to not spend $100 on a round of golf.Legs were sore though.

The PlayGolfCalgary card is a pretty good deal this year with the 50/fore/50.
Extra days on bookings against the public and everybody in your tee time gets the same price

We'll see how easy these tee times are to get as the season progresses.

For anyone who has missed it the calender can be found here:
playgolfcalgary.com/50fore50

Next year,Serenity included?

Also picked up Delacours 8 round pack, should save me about $130.

Played Sirroco last night for the first time. Good course.

But was reintroduced to useless marshalls and terribly slow golf players. The front nine was just ridiculously slow. This after the starter assured me they were playing on time.

We wouldn't have come close to finishing if the 5 groups in front of us all didn't quit after the front 9.

I've played Sirocco 3 times, once was a 6-hour round, one was just over 5 and the other was a Thursday night twilight that we just squeezed in 18 in just around 4:15. I always hear complaints about it so I'm guessing it's one of the worst offenders in the city for slow play.

Wow, Ive never had a slow round at Sirocco. Surprised to hear that. Played a 3pm round last week and finished in under 4 hrs. Most of my rounds at Sirocco are the early morning weekday rounds in the summer and typically done in about 3.5.

^^^ Ya, no doubt. Still, didn't realize it was known as a slow course. Have played a couple peak time rounds though and don't recall any issues either, but anyway.

I just seem to have the worst luck when it comes to pace of play. I try not to play twilight anymore because it drives me crazy when I can't finish a round.

I think Blue Devil was home to the slowest round ever for me. I think we did 12 holes in about 4 hrs. Its the firmness of the greens that slows that course down. I love fast greens as much as the next guy, but at $50 a round for twilight, they are going to get a lot of volume of casual golfers, which will slow things way down.

Agreed. Twilight usually brings the slower golfers out.

My slowest was playing 9 holes in 3 hours 45 minutes at Shaganappi. We got a rain check for the back 9.

Don't know if it counts as its a city course though...

Which is hilarious because I have played the front 9 there in 1 hour 30 minutes with a friend walking after a storm went through.

Courses could do a lot to help themselves with slow play by running 10-11 minute tee times instead of 8-9 or whatever. Studies have shown this to be one of the most effective ways to keep the pace going and it doesn't have to be a revenue killer as a course can push back their twighlight times a wee bit and make up for it.

Or just have marshals actually Marshall.

I'd say most hold ups I have witnessed are caused by:

- People hitting multiple shots off the tee
- People hitting from the wrong tees
- People looking for balls for 5+ minutes
- People waiting to hit when the group in front is 250 yards+ ahead

But I agree on tee times. Space them out a bit more.
