Great write up.
Sitting up late to read CP's official recap tonight reminds me of reading Cowperson's take on the Game 7 win vs. Vancouver in 04

Bennett started losing battles during game 5 and through the couple periods of game 6. Probably during the time that both Backlund and Colborne took two handed chops from Vancouver players that weren't called. (Although Backlund's strike was when Bollig lifted a Canuck players stick so there's that.) Bennett was also losing foot races throughout the 1st 2 periods.
Some adjustment is needed but hey it's all gravy.
Duck's more fearsome than the 03/04 Redwings?

Awesome write up.
I think the way Hiller played most of this series, he gets the start against the Ducks.
Wondering if the Bennett demotion was to give him a chance to see less competition from the Canucks, they were working him pretty hard the past few games.
Jones was unreal this series. We saw flashes of it during the past couple years, but he's been so consistent in the playoffs and deserves huge recognition.

Bennett is very young, needs to learn a lot. Hopefully the playoffs make him even better!
This 14-15 team is a lot better then 03/04, the goaltending may be an issue but we are fortunate enough to have decent goaltending and depth with the backups. IMO

Yes, Sam Bennett is only 18
And it was a bit a jump start to think that Colborne/Backlund/Bennett could replicate that Nieminen/Nilson/Donovan line that would just tire out teams and troll them.

Any word on whether we can see Diaz back for the Ducks series? We need another body on that blueline who can play 14 minutes or so.

Miller was kind of a funny one. He was great in the 1st. I think he was as big of a reason as anyone for the Canucks 3 goals and big lead, stopping the Flames on some great scoring chances in the 2nd & 3rd minutes.
But the Flames second goal almost seemed to rock him. He just wasn't nearly as solid from then on.
I thought it was Brodies best game in a few weeks. With the thin D core right now he is being leaned on so heavily for defensive starts that the points haven't been there the way they could be. But wow this guy can do everything from everywhere on the ice and still get back to cover his assignments. If there wasn't such a point frenzy he easily could have been one of the 3 stars.

I love the introduction in that write-up. It pretty much sums up the theme.

how great is this?? so awesome, just had this feeling, that they would win even after they were down 3 goals, and stajan scoring the gamewinner was so perfect, so deserving - still have goosbumps when i think about it

I have to admit that after 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, in a playoff game, I thought the game was probably over which made it soooo much more enjoyable when they started coming back !!

That Stajan, Jones, Ferkland line won the series for the Flames, and deserved the points they were able to put up last night. So strong on the forecheck, so smart in their own zone. The Sedins had plenty of cycle time this series but just could finish, it really was the perfect example of corsi vs anti-corsi. I think the game plan was to let them cycle it out until they tired and not give any chances up, and it worked perfectly.
Houghson and Simpson kept talking about how they were always on their game, but in my eyes the defenders let them keep the puck as long as they wanted, as long it was on the outside. This was a dangerous game and needed the cagey vets in Stajan and Jones to make it happen. Ferland's energy and power balanced out the line and as early as late game two you could see canuck defensemen always looking out behind them.
The top line will be getting a lot of credit for breaking out, taking over the game and closing out the series. But it was this third line who really won this series. Makes me glad I spent so many months on this board defending Stajan.
Oh yeah and Long live Ferkland!
