Default Can I sell my Bell Receiver

I don't really understand how these satellite receivers work with accounts.

If I sell the receiver to someone, can I get it transferred from my account onto someone else's account? Will Bell do that?

Does anyone know when Bell will switch to MPEG-4?

My HDMI port quit on my HD PVR (9200), I thought it was my video out, so I ended up getting a new HD PVR from Bell (9242) with tons of programming credits. I then realized component still works on the thing, and I could just rewire it my A/V receiver. I don't want to hang on to all these PVRs.

Don't know if it is worth trying to hassle Bell to walk away from my purchase & installation deal, or just try and get a few bucks for my old HD PVR. The programming credit was pretty large amount, over half the value of the new PVR.

Yeah, you can sell your old receivers. Just phone Bell to take it off your account when you sell it.

No word that I know of on when MPEG 4 will start.
I guess it's fairly common for the HDMI ports to go on the 9200 but an expert with a soldering iron can repair it.

So you are going to be selling a Bell HD PVR?

I'd be very, very interested in this.

Just take it off your account and you can sell it to anyone.

No word on MPEG-4, I bet it will come out around the 2010 games.

Great thanks for the info guys.

I think I will head down the selling route to see how much I could get for my old one.

Thanks!

Just wanted to bump this to give props to yet another smooth transaction with a fellow CPer. This is the third purchase I've made on CP, other than tickets, and all three have been easy to deal with and accommodating to my concerns.

Me and kdogg finished our transaction with relative ease.

After a few hiccups, I finally got someone on the phone with Bell who wasn't in India and asking if I've ever met Bret Hart (which strangely enough I have!, the guy in India was quite excited).

Anyway, just wanted to give a big thanks to kdogg for his patience in dealing with me, while I was dealing with Bell. Turned out it was my SW44 switch and the connections weren't done properly. So partly my fault but I couldn't get a competent person at Bell to help me with it.

I currently have the Colbert report PAUSED!!! I will finish watching when I'm done posting, so I must say I'm thoroughly enjoying the PVR. He game me a great deal too.

BTW kdogg thanks for leaving all that porn on your hard drive!

Glad you got things figured out.

Just thought it might be worth throwing a warning up here. I was browsing one of my American satellite forums and it appears that a lot of Americans who were subscribing to Bell through a broker are in the process of being cut off. Not just cut off, but the receiver IDs being blacklisted.

So if anybody is looking to buy a used Bell receiver, make sure it is from a trustworthy source. I would expect that in the coming months we will see 9242s on eBay for cheap; but they won't be worth more than whatever a used IDE hard drive is worth.
