I actually think it's important, but needs to be carefully considered.
I have family from Russia. Small sample size, but holy hell, the intolerance is real.
But you need to step back and take that context into consideration when viewing them as people.
Some of them have moved here, and stayed intolerant #######s. Some have made significant strides from where they were, although maybe not viewed as "fully" tolerant by Canadian standards, it's important to recognize them making progress overcoming their immersion for decades in a very intolerant environment. Where you grow up and who you're surrounded by definitely shapes you.
It's just like how must cut their grandparents a bit more slack than say their parents. They grew up in a very different time/environment, and may have made huge strides evolving with the times. As long as people are making forward progress, they should not be #### on and discouraged, or we risk derailing all of it.

I'm guessing you mean that they should not be?
I agree, it is important to encourage those who change over time. Especially for people like Podkolzin in the case of Vancouver (to keep the thread on topic), they surely have young fans in Russia who look up to them. There is intolerance in a number of places, and had that poster claimed that the incidence is higher in Russia than over here, I'd tend to agree, although I can't prove it.

Any other fan base I'd say that's a really bad look. But this is the same fan base that burned their City down twice after losing the finals, so whatever

Their former captain. Can anyone imagine Iggy or Gio doing this?

Hes been so milquetoast his whole career, I dont mean that in a bad way I'd say 80% of players are, it's kinda surprising
Maybe he wanted some more love from islanders fans because before the last few games hed been a pretty big disappointment, 15 points in 28 games

He is sort of right, the Canucks haven't given fans much to cheer about in person for around a decade. Their only okay year was in the bubble and past then it was a quick exit at the hands of Juri Hudler and the Calgary Flames.
Fans in Vancouver do suck but all fans suck when their team sucks.

We're quiet. They throw jerseys on the ice and act like wildebeests on social media and radio call in shows.

This is super questionable, since if they waited one more year the buy out was a lot more palatable long term.
But they tried to move Boeser, Garland and Myers and the only offers they got back were "Sure, what will you give us for it?" which just doesn't work either.
His first season was good in Vancouver was good. His second season was an unmitigated disaster as he apparently never got into an NHL game shape after the foot injury at the Worlds. The original plan was to see if he could bounce back in the third season, but I guess there was no other way to get cap space without giving up assets.
Wanting assets for Boeser or Myers tracks but I think teams passing on Garland will regret that. Guy is still a 5on5 machine and could have been had for the cheap. Asking for assets on top was just silly.

I don't really follow the dynamics of that club, but him being named captain surprised me.
