The two bald guys knew something was up early and the bald guy in the blue suit gave his speech knowing they'd lost. Figure he should thank his friends and family before it's too late.

I just re watched it too. Beatty knew something was wrong, looked back in the envelope, looked over to the side of the stage. When you first watch it, he seems a little senile but really he was like 'wtf do i do?' He hoped Dunaway would see what he saw, but she just read La la Land out loud.

It's really a shame Beatty didn't just speak up and say they may have been given the wrong envelope. He kind of passed the buck to Dunaway. Pretty brutal and you have to wonder if maybe someone purposely hijacked things as what's the odds of that happening to the final and biggest award?

Wow I turned it off as soon as she read La La Land. I wondered why Beatty didn't read it out.

Damn, I turned off the TV five minutes too early
I thought the thing with Beatty and Dunaway was strange. Crappy of Beatty to do that if he knew there was an error.

Pictures on twitter showing Beatty was clearly handed the wrong envelope. Says actress in a leading role right on it.
How is that even possible?

It would have been a better ending if Suicide Squad had somehow actually won Best Picture.

#### it. I'm happy Moonlight won. Quiet and inexpensive films rarely get a lot of recognition. Hopefully this spurs more people to make authentic and artistic films.
Also super happy for Kenny Lonergan and Casey Affleck. They really deserved their honors.

Here's the thing....you still can. It's been recorded and there are a multitude of ways you can watch it.

Whaaaaat?!
I just mean I have no interest in ever seeing it. Subject matter and storyline just don't appeal at all -- so even if it's great I'll never watch it.
Your initial comment is strange though. Inexpensive, quiet, artistic films make up probably 80% of the major award winners every year, to the point of it being a running joke.

I saw all the Oscar nominated films for best picture and Moonlight was easily my least favourite. Don't get me wrong, the acting noms were well deserved but the writing was clunky and the main character was a complete cipher.

Expand your horizons. You might just learn something important about being a human being. It's just my two cents, but it's important to be challenged by subjects you aren't comfortable with. Or you can skip it, but you'll be missing out. It's your choice.

Would be pretty boring if everyone had the same tastes in movies don't you think? I usually watch most of the Oscar nominations on an annual basis but few ever become movies that I consider personal favourites. Also Oscar bait movies are a bit of a turnoff for me. Not saying that's the case for Moonlight which I haven't seen but plenty of critically acclaimed movies aren't audience pleasers.

And the mystery gets deeper.
Just saw Emma Stone say that during the announcement of best picture she had the envelope with her name on it the entire time.
I don't know how a double of the envelope happens, but someone's gonna have to answer for that mistake.

Groan.....
No, I'm just saying they should at least attempt to watch these films. If they don't like them in the end, so be it, but to say they won't bother with it annoys me. Give it a chance.
For example: I watched the Lobster. The first 2/3rds of it were interesting, weird, fascinating, and challenging. Then the movie falls apart and loses me, but it doesn't change the fact that I was thankful for the first 2/3rds of that film.
