I just read a report saying that the kings got Dustin Brown to send out invitations to a LA Kings draft party using really cheap envelopes.

Yeah...... suddenly allergic to his equipment.
Nothing fishy here, nothing to see. Move along now.

Sounds like it's nothing to do with equipment. His own perspiration is causing his skin to break out into some kind of rash apparently. The med to control such is extremely strong and can cause other issues.
At least that's what I got out if this mornings conversation on 960.

All too convenient:
- Hawks in cap jail
- Can't unload him on Vegas
- Don't want to pay the price for a team like Arizona to take him
- His actual salary dropping to $1M for the upcoming year
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and swims like a duck...

No, that was the Kings exploiting a minor offense to get out of a contract they no longer wanted, and the player obviously objected. This is a both a team and player agreeing that the player cannot continue at this point. If we are scratching our heads over this one, you can bet any insurance company is going to do its own investigation to determine if Hossa qualifies for a settlement. Hossa still has over 15mil owed him- why would he do this unless there was some legitimacy to the ordeal.

Hossa only has $4 million owed to him over the next 4 years. I would be surprised if the Hawks even insured his last 4 years of his contract.

Best of luck to him, these things can develop over time.
Also, let's not forget Hawks in recent years have traded away younger players to create capspace unlike Kings who got away with a $hit excuse.
Hate the Hawks as an opponent but they've done it the last years.

Not saying he doesn't have a skin issue but career threatening? Sounds to me the severity of this condition is directly proportional to the salary of the player. There's just too much coincidence here to draw any other conclusion other than Hossa doesn't want to go through the rigors of an 82 game season for only $1 million and the Hawks don't want him to retire. The NHL caused this mess when they let the Kings get out of the Richards contract but they need to come down hard on this or silly allergies and other lame excuses will be commonplace to the point nobody will be able to take the league seriously anymore.

Just sickening.
Take your ####ing cap recapture penalty you pieces of crap. Won three goddamn cups because they had elite players getting salary way above their actual cap hits. You just know the league will let them get away with this crap too.

The league should insist on an independent medical examination.

Jock itch.
But seriously, guys on heavy immunosuppressant drugs should not be playing physically demanding contact sports.

Agreed, but sudden onset severe allergy to equipment right when retirement is likely?
Uh huh

I believe in the Jays.

I highly suspect Luongo will soon be diagnosed with terminally hyper-active sebaceous glands* and forced onto LTIR. Such a shame to see so many once good yet now aging past their cap value players struck down with such conveniently timed maladies.
*That's greasy hair

This has got to be the next Kovalchuk contract. There's no way they can give them a get out of cap recapture jail free card can they?

In that case, to hell with him! Did a quick search and saw the 5+. Obviously just the cap hit. Should have known his contract was front loaded.
I'm sure his condition has some legitimacy, but who knows how serious it is.

There really is no drawback to these types of contracts. Reap all the benefits of a lowered cap hit, get out of cap jail once the player reaches age 38.

It's not an allergy to equipment.
