Man the hawks look good. I can't believe a one dimensional player like Toews stole the puck from a great two-way guy like Yak the other night and scored on a breakaway. Good luck pulling that kinda stuff tonight!

A tough 4-2 loss. Flames look ok but can't score on raanta in his first nhl start. Berra plays well the first two periods but the hawks come out flying in the third.

Backup Antti Raanta will get his first NHL game for the Hawks in goal.

Looking for backlund to have a big game. Galiardi scratched again, I don't really have a problem with that except maybe he should draw in over mcgrattan.

First NHL start. He had his NHL debut on November 19th against Colorado, let in 2 goals in 47 minutes.

It'll be interesting to watch him tonight, that's for sure. This guy was fighting with Joni Ortio for icetime in the World Championships last spring, and eventually won the starting job for Finland. He's 2 years older than Ortio but they've been on similar developmental paths so far in their careers. Seeing how close he is to being a full time NHL goalie will help give us a barometer on how ready Ortio is to make the jump up to the NHL.

You would think Galiardi would get the start over McGrattan with a speed based team like the Hawks. I mean, I guess they still have Bickell, but nobody on their roster is really an enforcer or tough guy. Hopefully that line plays some protected minutes tonight.

Galiardi is suffering from back spasms, doubtful he can play.

Galiardi was stuck at home with back spasms yesterday. Hartley described him as a '56 Chevy, all seized up. Doubt he will be ready to play tonight even if the spasms have subsided today. It was 2 days in a row he missed practice so it looks like it could be something that he deals with day-to-day for the next little while.

Galiardi is injured. They said yesterday he was at home with back spasms and couldn't move.

I hope we see a bottom 6 of Backs/Colborne/D. Jones & Bouma/B. Jones/McGrattan at some point.

If Backs is going on the market then it's only sensible to give him a chance to put up some points with 2 players with some form of finishing ability...

Thanks all for the Gali update. Surprisingly, there is very little coverage of Flames players' injury status down here in Florida.

So you're saying the flames are playing someone looking for their first win?

That should go well for the Flames, right? I mean, he has no NHL experience. Advantage: Flames!

Right?
