Going to look pretty bad for Boston if it is under 6m AAV. Apparently they offered him 33m over 6 years at 5.5m AAV.

So, if it is indeed under 6m AAV you have to wonder what Boston was actually doing.

That would be up there with the coilers failing to sign Smyth for a few $100k.

I believe there were reports Hamilton and the Bruins were roughly 200K apart... So one could assume he was looking at roughly 5.7-5.8 AAV and Bruins weren't willing to give him that.

So if Friedman's report is true Bruins traded him in the end over $500k/yr

Not sure this is some sort of super deal on his contract. I think it's probably pretty fair, but how much more did people think he was going to get?

Was there an assumption that we would be paying offer sheet prices for the guy?

I think the biggest thing to come out of this is how much of a deal we are getting with Brodie.

If this is true, then Dougie Hamilton's value is Jordan Eberle.

Sounds like we got robbed by Boston.

Here is a reminder of what our cap situation looks like moving forward, with Dougie Hamilton in at $6Mper.

So when they said they were $2M apart, they likely meant a total of $2M apart over the course of 6 years?! Haha...Boston.

Wow, I have been a little skeptical of all the love Treliving has been getting but I'm fully converted in the last couple of days. Great signing, was expecting 6.5 - 7M.

Still $11M below the cap in 2015-16.

It was rumoured that he wanted Doughty money on this contract.

edit: Why do I even try?

Poor Bruins fans. I didn't think it was possible to feel sorry for a fan base that enjoyed a cup win not even 5 years ago, but here I am.

Treliving might have already locked up GM of the year even if he does nothing else. Assuming the team has a good year, of course.

Maybe he just didn't want to re-sign in Boston. I think that's more of a possibility than anything
