An independent arbitration panel handed down a one-year suspension on Jones, the UFC interim light heavyweight champion, on Monday. Jones had his USADA case heard by three arbitrators from McLaren Global Sports Solutions last week and the decision came back to give him the full sanction.
The ban is retroactive to when the results came back, so Jones will be eligible to return to the Octagon in July 2017. it was the first time a UFC athlete has gone to arbitration with USADA since UFC partnered with the anti-doping agency last year.
I know lots of people love to hate on the guy, and he sure makes it easy, but F sakes what a waste.
He may get things turned around yet, but he just threw away 2.5 years of his prime with all this BS.
Can't believe he's 29 already. I remember when he was a 22 year old up and coming phenom, and took Brandon Vera, Vladimir Matyushenko and Ryan Bader apart in a calendar year before taking his run at the title.
22-1 and his only loss was a DQ for 12 to 6 elbows after systematically destroying poor Matt Hamill for about 4 minutes
16-1 in the UFC
15 finishes
10 title fights, all wins
8 straight title defenses, before being stripped
What. A. Waste.

Donald Cerrone lost a high-profile opponent last month and now he won't be able to fight at all this weekend at Madison Square Garden.
Kelvin Gastelum was unable to make weight Friday and his fight with Cerrone was pulled off the UFC 205 card, which is set for Saturday night. It's the first-ever UFC card in New York City. The two were supposed to meet in a key welterweight contest.
Cerrone hit 170.4 here at the Affinia Manhattan, but found out later that Gastelum would not be able to hit the welterweight mark. Gastelum, who has a history of weight struggles, did not weigh-in Friday at all.
The weigh-in issues feel like they're becoming more and more common? I don't know that they are, but it just seems like every card this kind of issue takes place.

Common, yes. But this guy is too big for Welterweight. Always barely making weight or missing it. This is the 3rd time he's missed weight.
I feel bad for Cerrone. That guy is awesome and all he does is fight. Is there a more active guy in the UFC? I don't think so. He had 4 fights in 2015, and this would have been his 4th fight this year too. Not to mention that this isn't just any card either.
EDIT - now that I look at it this would have been his 4th straight year with 4 fights. Plus he fought 5 times in 2011. Impressive. Mostly wins too.

Yeah, I agree. It was only last week when Oliveira was what...10lbs over?! That's ridiculous. I know that they're are penalties and I know that guys want to do these drastic cuts to give them an advantage come fight time, but its becoming more commonplace it seems. I'm not sure what the solution is?
