They’re both pretty aggressive so I think it should be entertaining. I didn’t think a whole lot about Strickland before the Adesanya fight so I’m interested to see how he handles a title defense and a bigger fighter like Du Plessis. I think Du Plessis is the real deal and he’s my pick to win.

Interesting that Strickland is now promoting them as guys who are going to go all out. Sounds like it won’t be going to a decision.

Strickland has done well at marketing himself.

Yeah. I’m not sure with what the freedom thing is all about but it’s funny that meat heads believe we’re suppressed in Canada. Total jibberish.

I revise my prediction. Both looked nervous yesterday. Strickland can probably settle down quicker, so I say he wins second round after landing some leg kicks in the first, ultimately winning with refs calling punches to the face.

Imagine paying so much money for a ticket just to see this crap card? Damn today’s been uneventful so far.

Didn’t expect it to go the distance. Du Plessis had good cardio from that rocky start. Pretty even fight. All in all a boring card though.

I thought the main event was decent.

The rest of the main card was pretty underwhelming.

Unless it’s all an act topuria was really hateable leading up to this fight. No respect given to Volkanovski as well, Topuria just acted like a mouthy jerk. Really hated seeing this guy KO Volk. Volk is a class act and so likeable . I guess topuria the real deal. Just can’t stand seeing arrogant punks being champions. Then other fighters think that’s how champs should act.

Volk is a true warrior all class but I do agree it's the new generation of fighter do alot trash talk to sell the fights. Connor McGregor started that trend alot fighters seem to copy paste.

I take it as a grain of salt. Dana is all about selling the fight and while the contracts aren't published publicly, I'd guarantee there are bonuses in there based on selling the fight somehow. These guys know the heel is the laziest way to sell the fight. It's simply the most efficient way of doing what they need to, to get their name out there. Kinda pathetic to sell yourself that way but that's the way it is.

UFC 299 here we go! Most boring fight round 1 ever turned into a TKO for blaydes- strange fight for the main event on prelims.

Poirier fight is going to be a banger.

This is a far better card than 300 in my opinion.

And Trump has just done a walk-out hahaha.

Yeah 300, while still a good card, got too overhyped. I can’t stand that the orange coloured loser seems so affiliated with UFC.

I hear you about Trump. Unfortunately he is trying to be the “common man” and UFC fits the bill for him. Whatever.

Good win for Della Madalena there. Thought Burns had it with his wrestling for a while but just got caught there at the end.

UFC Teenage Wasteland still gives me goosebumps by the way

Yeah early I thought burns had it in round 2. Two good guys.

Probably more suited for the politics thread than this, but is unbelievably ironic that a filthy rich, above the law politician with a trashbag family could ever be considered the common man.

MVP won that but I’m not fond of the point fighter style. I used to train that same style many years ago with people that trained with his dad, so shows how old I am. It’s not really for MMA. He’ll get found out by a pressure puncher / grappler I suspect. Good scrap though.

Having said all that, MVP v Stephen Thompson would be fairly entertaining
