It's far from ridiculous, the divisional playoff format is way better than the old system.
The only improvement that could be made is to save the wildcard re-seeding only for situations where both wildcard teams are from the same division.
If there is one team from each division (like Calgary and Nashville, for example) they should just be seeded into their division. If it was Calgary/LA, then LA would be seeded into the division with the harder 1st round matchup.

Think the league doesn't want the Leafs in the playoffs? Probably should have been playing short handed when JVR scored as the refs missed a clear trip. Then took no time deciding that the goal by JVR was on side.

Laughs are a huge money stream for the league and CBC.Laughs in the playoffs means the CBC lasts just a bit longer.
