Just...odd. If legit like why now and couldn't you make the equipment out of something else? I want to believe they wouldn't make something like this up, but it just seems so far fetched. Interesting to see where this goes. I can't imagine anyone is going to be happy about this.
I don't fault the Hawks. They saw the Kings get away with similar so they are going to take a kick at the can. The NHL better clamp down on these shenanigans fast. The league fought hard to get a salary cap and letting teams get out of their cap issues like this undermines everything that cost the league a full season in 2005. I'm not sure I could support a league that operates like this as that's just way too corrupt for this fan. I mean this is the NHL not the KHL right?

Allergies are weird. They can develop over time and people can have weird reactions to weird things. I'm going to assume it is true until proven otherwise.

I'm not. It's way too convenient.
The league won't do anything about it though. They can't punish the Blackhawks, they bring in too much money.

They were probably sitting with this in their back pocket. If he has said allergy, i wouldnt be surprised if its something he has had for awhile. Waits until its "too much to hande" then call it a career.
the hawks won't be punished. Nobody at head office is even going to ask any questions about this. In Gary's circle of trust, its time for Stanley to return to Chicago after 2 years in steeltown.
