Default Bouma being compared to Lucic/Holmstrom

Granted it is the home team and coach giving kudos here, but the descriptions are nice to see....wasn't sure what Calgary liked in Bouma to pick him 3rd round, but it seems to be our round to find gems:

Quote:
"I think he should model his game after a player like Lucic, or a Tomas Holmstrom," said Giants coach Don Hay, pointing also to the Detroit Red Wings crease crasher. "He's going to have success at the net. He's not going to create a lot of offence with his shot. He's going to create offence with his body and courage.

"He's not as tough as Lucic. He's a better skater and he's a powerful guy. He's a bull when he moves his feet. When he moves his feet, he's a powerful man."

Centre James Wright added: "When he gets going, there's not much that can stop him. When he hits you, it hurts."
woops....i put this in the wrong forum. mods......help a dufus out here, willya and please move it?

You are probably thinking about TJ Brodie.

Good stuff to hear about Bouma... any CPer's regularly see Bouma with any insight?

I think 604 is a Giant season ticket holder.

I haven't seen Bouma a ton but from what I have seen if fans start thinking Lucic/Holmstrom potential they are going to be disappointed.

He seems more likely to be a Wayne Primeau type guy than either of those.

I saw Bouma at the rookie camp and rookie scrimmages in the summer and he looked like a good skater. I didn't see much in the way of hands but the kid had just been drafted a few months earlier. The Flames desperately need a crease crasher and could use another physical presence on the forecheck.

I started noticing him a lot more towards the end of last season, and would agree that he's a bit of a crease crasher. Decent skater, and he hits everything that moves. Hasn't dropped the gloves as much as maybe I'd like, and with the Giants not really having a regular tough guy it would be nice if he were a bit more imposing that way.

He'll score goals here and there, but generally they aren't as pretty on the ice as they are on the scoreboard.
