Keith

Had my furnace damaged by a water loss in my basement. Furnace heats basement and main floor. Upstairs is on its own furnace. Looking for suggestions/comments/advice.

1) Because much of the basement will be opened up for the rebuild in any event, do you have any suggestions re: ductwork or anything else we should be looking at when doing a new furnace?

2) Anything we should be looking out for when we look at furnace options?

3) A few months ago you recommended these brands, in this order: Carrier, Bryant PAyne, American standard and trane and Napoleon. Has anything changed?
4) Hot water tank damaged as well. Should we go 2 medium ones or 1 big one?

5) Most important: Do you sell/install furnaces? How about in Edmonton?

Appreciate the advice as always.

Default Furnace replacement plus hot h20I tank

Is it possible to send me pictures of your current setup??

I wish I could refer someone up there so lets start here....

1. Get 5 quotes and let them know they're all competing
2. Name brands previously given stay the same....add York and Coleman and keeprite to the list of choices near the bottom
3.if possible one bigger furnace on a zone system ....only if you have a common return air trunk for all floors???
4.Go tankless......or electric with option to tie in solar....tanks don't last and will be obsolete soon as to they're inefficiency.
5. New high efficiency can be hung if in flood plain??? Get them off the floor....hang em.....keep them dry. If not built on platforms.

I think that's it.....

Thumbs up

Big props to Keith for coming by on Friday and inspecting my furnace and cleaning all the air returns and ducts.

My furnace is very old and he took the time to take it all apart for inspection, highlighted any potential problem areas and gave recommendations on replacements units.

This is the second time I have used Keith and would recommend him to anyone. Very knowledgeable, very thorough, and does the job right.

When are you booking for? Looking to have the furnace inspected / tuned. No vent cleaning required.

Oh, would also recommend. Have used before, good times all around

Hey Keith...do you do laundry vent cleaning in addition to the work with the furnace?

This is who Keith recommended to me when I asked him about the same.

http://ultivent.com/

Great guys and fixed my stupid roof dryer vent up so it won't be a fire hazard anymore.

Keith - when I had an inspection conducted on my house, they saw that inside the furnace, a transformer was hanging from wires, rather than being mounted. Last winter, vibration caused the connections to slip 2-3 times, resetting the furnace. Mounting/securing the transformer seems a simple job, but I don't have the tools - is this something you could do?

I can send pictures over PM if needed

Keith came around this morning for my duct cleaning and furnace inspection. Really nice guy, cleaned 13 years of dust out of my ducts, and gave me some good info on my furnace. Would definitely recommend.

Keith do you also service humidifiers? I have had mine shut off all summer because it seemed to be not operating properly (leaking into the furnace). With winter coming up its going to get horribly dry.

Edit: If it means getting a new one I'm fine with that as well.

Thumbs up Another rave review for Keith

Approaching winter, saw Keith's bump on this thread, figured I should do another cleaning since the guys who did it in Spring before I moved in did such a crap job. Booked last week on Keith's website, he replied less than an hour later and had me booked in for yesterday.

Told me between 1100-1300, usually when people tell you these between times they show up closer to the end, so I really wasn't expecting Keith until 1230. He showed up at 1015 haha, caught me a bit off guard but it worked out really well for me, freeing up my afternoon, double thumbs up.

Just like all his happy customers above Keith did a great job with the clean, my A/C installers shat the bed and Keith actually pulled out a couple pieces of scrap metal because they're too lazy to dump those during the install. Ugh. Apparently the last 3 companies the previous owner and I hired to do the cleaning also didn't touch the HRV.

Admittedly I know very little about furnaces so it was great to have Keith educate me on how it works, what filters to use etc. The man is very thorough & efficient, 2 hours later my furnace was running like new

Don't bother calling anyone else for your furnace cleaning! Definitely 11/10, if he ever starts taking credit cards so I can get my 2% from the bank it would be icing on the cake lol.
