I just assumed the ice was made from the tears of those poised to be shutout of the new system.

Freedom Caucus. I love the use of euphemism. Sort of like the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

They should pass a bill taking away healthcare for everyone in the House and the Senate.

If I was a Democrat right now I would propose an amendment in the AHCA eliminating health benefits for federally elected officials.

They can afford the best healthcare anyway

For the first time in history, more than half the members of Congress are millionaires, according to a new analysis of financial disclosure reports conducted by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics.
Of the 534 current members of the House and Senate, 268 had an average net worth of $1 million or more in 2012 – up from 257 members in 2011. The median net worth for members of the House and Senate was $1,008,767.
The wealthiest member of Congress? That's Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican, who had a net worth between $330 and $598 million.

A petition to do this has over 700,000 signatures. But like most petitions it'll be inconsequential.

I wish there was a way to tell these 700,000 people (and others, I'm sure) just how little their opinions actually matter until campaign time rolls around. They're trying to convince a bunch of old, rich white men that it's in their best interests not to act as shills for other old, rich white men - best of luck, I guess, but history shows pretty clearly which way the coin falls on matters such as these.
All this demonstrates is that people are tragically misinformed about who really calls the shots in Washington. Hint: it's not the public. Policy-makers won't care one bit for a list of signatures, the only thing that matters to these people is towing the party line and furthering their own rise to power.
Until people get off their asses and start doing something meaningful to 'drain the swamp' of political corruption and hyperpartisanism this is all just a big joke regardless of who's sitting in the oval office.

I didn't realize today is the anniversary of signing the ACA into law? March 23, 2010.
No wonder the GOP was trying to ram it through today. What a bunch of d bags.

That Times interview where he said, "I'm the president, you're not", is hilarious.
Here's an example of some quotes.
Quote:
I’m just quoting the newspaper [about Ted Cruz’s father being involved in the JFK assassination], just like I quoted the judge the other day, Judge Napolitano, I quoted Judge Napolitano, just like I quoted Bret Baier, I mean Bret Baier mentioned the word wiretap.”
“Well, I’m not, well, I think, I’m not saying, I’m quoting, Michael, I’m quoting highly respected people and sources from major television networks.”
“Well if you look at the reporter, he wrote the story [about Muslims celebrating 9/11 on rooftops in New Jersey] in the Washington Post.”

Lol, of course. Anything to try and get his insanely low approval rating back up. The sad thing is it would probably work.

It doesn't really help when the media keeps referring to it as "Obamacare". If they called it by it's proper name, I doubt so many people would be caught up in trying to de-Obamafy everything.
NBC should know better than to play into Trump's agenda like that.

They'll vote to pass it, and Trump's ego will grow three sizes that day.

Yup. Sadly I have a feeling it will probably pass now. We all know Republicans are spineless turds when it comes down to it. Now with the added pressure of Trump's ultimatum, they know that this is probably their one and only shot to rid themselves of the ACA. They'll do whatever it takes to ram this disastrous bill through, regardless of the consequences to American citizens, just so they can finish erasing Obama's legacy. Party over country every single time. Bunch of f'n dirtbags, all of 'em.

So, CBO states that Trump's bill, as is, will result in decreasing deficits by $187bn less (150 v 337) than Obama's over the next 10 years and 24M fewer people insured by 2026.
What exactly is the selling point of it to average Joe American? We got rid of Obamacare?

More poor people dying means lower unemployment rates.
