General Sock Chat
I am currently in a run of socks that are dying off quickly. For me the life cycle ends when a toe sticks all the way through. Once I have a piggie hatching, that sock is done.
So the question is - When do you break up with your socks?
What is your breaking point before they hit the bin? Both socks go if one has a hole?
Please tell the community about your relationship with your socks - this is a safe space.

Heel holes, I might stick it out for another month or so of wear. Toe holes, and that is a trash sock.

When the heel or ball of the foot area has a hole in it. If I don't throw them then, blisters possible later. My toes almost never wear out before those two.

Any bottom holes and they are tossed now.
I've been buying the Mark's socks with "copper technology" lately. They fit great and are not seeing to wear out at all! Great quality.

I always buy the same socks over and over so when a single wears out (heel hole or toe blow out) the good one goes into the drawer until another one wears out and loses its partner. The I pair up the two survivors.

My lucky socks have a few holes in them. I still wear them for big occasions.

I'm not sure I've ever worn through the toe before. Always heels, my heel is like sandpaper apparently. Once the heel hole gets to about dime-sized, she gone.
Edit: And Winners socks for the win. They always have solid name brand ones on for cheap.

Before the sock has holes, the fabric will start to thin out. And when I can see-through my feet, I will throw out the sock.
Or if the sock colours fade to a certain point (like black is more like a film of white, etc.) then I will throw that out too.

I haven't had a toe hole in a long time. When a heel hole gets bigger than about a quarter, I probably chuck the one. It will get paired with another (non matching) sock that has also lost its partner.
I'm not sure if I have more than one pair of any one particular sock. That would be boring.
I do not own any socks that are plain white, grey, navy, brown, or black.

My momma always said:
If you get a toe hole in your sock it means you're not cutting your toe nails enough.

How do people tolerate those new socks with the stretchy part around your foot? They drive me insane.

For one year I just wore a new pair of socks everyday. You just throw them out when your done. If you get cheap socks this is a glorious way to waste money

I need Kevlar socks. Always wear out the heels of these . I am forced to wear 3 pairs at a time because of my profession working in people's homes.....and I have old tired sensitive feet.
I refuse to wear shoes in a house as a courtesy and show of respect for people but some people have heinous floors so....3 pairs at a time it is.

I wear socks once. They I throw them out my corporate window and let the little people fight over them. Trickle down economics ftw.

I'm... somewhat ashamed to say that new socks appear in the sock drawer, old ones vanish. I have my suspicions.

I took on a new strategy a few years ago. Buy the same socks over and over. As soon as there's even the smallest hole, chuck it. Buy a six pack every couple of months, and never fold, organize, or think twice about your socks. Dump them in a drawer, and grab out two every morning.
