Canada all over the Czechs but Czech defence and goalie are strong. Sam Reinhart finally scores for Canada. First period over.

McDavid is just insane. The puck is always on his stick.

Yeah, McDavid is a great player right now even if he is close to his peak. If he continues to improve he could be mentioned among the greats.

Second period the Canadians look frustrated and take 4 penalties. Game is much evener and our goalie holds us in. Late in the period McDavid scores a wrap around and we get another. Game looks safe with a 3-0 lead.

McDavid scores a hat trick. Nick Babtiste, a good sized RW has scored twice. Could be helping his draft ranking. Now 6-0.

So, 2 consecutive hat tricks for McDavid. 14 points (8 goals) in 5 games. Insanity.

Nichushkin just netted a hat trick against Germany, upping his tournament totals to 5 points. Other draft elligibles to keep an eye on as they project to go in the late first round:

JT Compher & Arturri Lehkonen with 7 points in 5 games
Josh Morrissey, D CAN: 6 points in 5 games
Klimchuck: 6 points
Burakovaky: 5 points (4 of them goals)
Shea Theadore: 5 points
Madison Bowey: 3 points

Should be noted that Fredrick Gauthier is struggling on the stats line with only 1 assist. I thought he might be a good pickup with a late first rounder, but if he's not producing at this level he doesn't have too much hope scoring in the pros.

Canada with an ENG beats Finland 3-1 in a close game. Calgarian Morgan Klimchuk with a goal and an assist.

Gauthier is like that. Some games he looks great, and like a sure top 15 pick. Some games he struggles. He needs to find consistency in his game and thats the biggest knock. However consistency can often be an issue for a young player his size, and can develop with maturity if you are patient.

Those who might have watched, any thougths on the Finnish players? Sounds like the goalie Saros looks good. Button compares Lehkonen to Jeff Skinner.

Barkov would have made such a difference for that team. Last fall he said that the U18 is one of his main goals this season.

Lehkonen's really interesting. He's approximately the same size as Baertschi right now, but he might be a pretty decent pick up in the second round if Feaster can get one.

Saros is the best of the European goalies, and likely best in this tournament. How he compares to a guy like Fucale or Comrie I'm not quite sure. Need to see a little more of him, probably will check out the US/Finland video as he was said to have another good one in that game.

Can you comment on Lehkonen, Commandant? What have you liked/disliked about him?

I'll be doing a full profile soon, as I don't want to give too much away, but he's in the late 20s/early 30s.

I do like his offensive game. He's got great stickhandling, a good shot, and good playmaking skills. He's also not afraid to get to dirty areas of the ice or work the corners despite his size.

As far as criticisms go, the defensive play needs work, and he quite simply needs to put on more muscle.

He's a boom or bust kinda guy, comparable to a guy like Aberg (Nas), a Swedish winger from last year. If they make it as top 6 NHLers you've got a great pick, but they are boom or bust because if they don't crack the top lines, they aren't going to fill a role on a checking line for you.

He plays for a countryside team so I've never paid much attention to him. Seems dynamic, someone who attacks the puck, but that's just what I recall very hazily. The worry could be that his style combined with his size has already led to injuries.

But still, 14 goals 16 assists in 45 games. Up there with older guys like Armia and Teräväinen in terms of production. Almost the same numbers as Lindholm in Sweden.

At some point he was projected to go in the first round. Certainly a more exciting prospect than Markus Granlund for example. Don't see him going much later than early second round.

Should be drafted by the Flames based on his name alone. Sounds like a luxury sedan.
