Game #6: Rematch vs Admirals
Abbfortford Heat
4-1-0-0 (4th in West)

Points: Greg Nemisz, Brendan Mikkelson 4
Goals: Paul Byron, Greg Nemisz, Ben Walter 2
Assists: Brendan Mikkelson 3
Games Played: Leland Irving 5
Wins: Leland Irving 4
GGA: Leland Irving 1.58
SV%: Leland Irving .924%
Milwaukee Admirals
3-0-0-1 (2nd in West)
Leaders
Points: Chris Mueller 6
Goals: Ryan Thang 4
Assists: Chris Mueller 4
Games Played: Jeremy Smith 4
Wins: Jeremy Smith 3
GGA: Jeremy Smith 1.44
SV%: Jeremy Smith .943%
The Heat took the first game of the back to back series thanks to strong goaltending by Leland Irving, and a single offensive tally by TJ Brodie. The game would go to the shootout, though the Heat seemed poised to take the game in the 3rd and OT, keeping the Admirals to 2 shots through the last 25 minutes of play. Ben Walter potted first, and Greg Nemisz added another shootout marker to win the game in the shootout, continuing his strong offensive start to the season.
Another defensive battle is likely to play out tonight between the two clubs. I keep hoping for a big offensive night for the Heat, but I don't predict it will come tonight against a goalie as good as Jeremy Smith.
As I mentioned in the game thread last night, the Heat having been getting pucks on net and keeping them away from Irving, outshooting opponents by an average of 10 shots a game. Yet goals have been hard to come by. Have they just run up against a string of tough goaltenders, or will offensive woes be an issue again this season? The team shooting percentage is about 6.6%, something that seems destined to rise.

No surprise here. Heat and Admirals scoreless after one. Shots are 9-7 Admirals

So Byron is dressed. I guess he didn't receive disciplinary action from the league.

- in a lot of ways he's more interested in seeing what happens in Abbotsford, than what happens in Calgary this year.
- believes a team should be built from within, through strong drafting and development
- a lot of the key guys in Boston's run were developed within (bergeron, Kreijci, lucic, marchand, seguin). when they felt the team was close and had a shot at the cup, they added some players through trades (horton, kelly, peverley, kaberle)
- believes free agency and trades are a way to "round out the edges" of what you've already built from within
- not sure why Calgary has had so few players drafted and developed from within. not sure if it's from poor drafting or if the organization dropped the ball in development. more than likely a bit of both.
- he and feaster have a lot of the same ideas about building this franchise moving forward
Sorry, that's all I could get.....I'm a two finger typist, and have hard time listening and typing at the same time.

Anyone else concerned that this team is scoring less than 2 goals a game average? They couldn't score last year and they can't score this year. Desbiens and Bouma on the second line? These two are just grinders. Desbiens and Bancks on the powerplay? Third line players playing in offensive roles. Wonder why they can't score. I thought Ward was an offence coach. Sure glad we have Ivanis is on the team now. Can see him adding alot to this team.

I have been wondering that as well. Some of these guys like Byron and Walter have put up big points in the AHL and I had high expectations from the start so am a bit disappointed. I agree with you about the power play and second line plus I think the PP guys might be better served not playing PK as well all the time. There are a few guys that are proven to be good PK players but they are sitting on the bench. Anyway, I am no coach but just "saying".

Not at all. The team is looking like a team again. Nemisz is a capable scorer this year instead of the best forward on a bad team and the D are contributing...not to mention the team doesn't bore you to death to score. They are looking a little more creative, hungry, and skilled.

I'm a little concerned, but they appear to be shooting a lot and creating chances, so it seems like the goals will start coming soon..
