According to sportsclubstats, before tonight's game, Bakersfield had a 58.9% chance at playoffs, and Stockton had 26.9%.

Now it's at 46% and 38.1% respectively. Hopefully the Heat take some inspiration from the big club and knock the grease birds out of the playoffs.

Gillies is in net this evening as Grand Rapids comes to town. Stockton has the early 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Frattin. It's been a pretty good game so far.

Hathaway to Jankowski to Mangiapane and it's 2-0!

Hathaway with a great breakout, Janko just shrugging off defenders and Mangiapane with the great sense to go to the net!

Grand Rapids scored on a late PP and now it's 2-1 after 1. Stockton was playing really well to start the game but really fell off after they scored their 2nd goal. Hoping for more effort in the 2nd.

Mangiapane scored on a 5 on 3 to make it 3-1 but Stockton seems disinterested in playing hard again and they've let in two goals to make it 3-3 here at the tail end of the 2nd.

Bollig, with probably the most brain dead play I've ever seen, ices the puck from within 4 feet of center ice with an empty net to shoot at, and Grand Rapids scores after they controlled after the faceoff and cycled for a bit. He didnt even aim for the net. Absolutely unforgiveably bad icing. Off to OT.

Lorito tries the Forsberg but gets denied
Vey shoots and scores
Svechnikov has a false start but gets another chance but misses
Mangiapane was robbed by the goalie
Bertuzzi stopped by Gillies, Heat win!

Big 2 points

^that was quick

Stockton is now 1 point behind Bakersfield for the final playoff spot in the Pacific division. Tucson and Texas are still in the race as well, but they've got a little more ground to cover. Stockton has 14 games left to play, but 8 of those 14 are on the road. Stockton is comfortably the worst road team in their division and 2nd worst in the league, so they will have to muster up something special in order to make the playoffs.

Stockton had lost 10 games in a row and 13 of 14. Garnet Hathaway arrives and they promptly win 7 of 9 with him in the line-up. Amazing.
The Hathaway effect applies in the AHL too I see.

wranglers Prospects Joining The Stockton Heat Next Season?

Taking a look ahead to the 2017-18 season, the Flames only have the following 15 players under two-way contracts:

Mark Jankowski
Morgan Klimchuk
Andrew Mangiapane
Hunter Shinkaruk
Emile Poirier
Daniel Pribyl
Hunter Smith
Austin Carroll
Brett Pollock

Rasmus Andersson
Oliver Kylington
Keegan Kanzig

Mason McDonald
Nick Schneider
Tom McCollum

+ the following 8 RFA prospects

Garnet Hathaway
Linden Vey

Brett Kulak
Tyler Wotherspoon
Kenney Morrison
Ryan Culkin

Jon Gillies
David Rittich

Of the remaining prospects who are of age to turn pro, who might we see joining the Stockton Heat or the Adirondack Thunder next year?

Tim Harrison
Pavel Karnaukhov

Brandon Hickey
Stepan Falkovsky
Adam Ollas-Mattsson
Riley Bruce
Rushan Rafikov

Tyler Parsons

Also, are some of the Euro draft picks eligible to turn pro early, such as Stepan Falkovsky, who is playing for the Adirondack Thunder without a contract from the Flames?

Linus Lindstrom
Mitchell Mattson
Eetu Tuulola

All current Flames draft picks except Dube and Phillips are eligible to be assigned to the AHL next season.

Karnaukhov is a grey area. He was drafted out of the CHL and won't turn 20 before December 31st. Not sure if leaving for Europe allows him now to be assigned to the AHL (I doubt it).

It looks like Karnaukhov will turn 20 tomorrow, so I'm wondering if we retain his rights if he doesn't sign with us?
