Default NHL schedule analysis

I know this is dated back in late June, but I did a quick search and didn't find anything. If it was posted I was on vacation and missed it anyways, so if it is old news we can go back to talking about Jankowski.

Couple things that stand out is the schedule maker didn't like the flames to much having them play 11 games where the flames opponent is rested while the Flames are tired. This year we are -4 (last year we were +4)

Looks like LA took Edmonton's position of playing a quarter of their schedule versus a tired team while they are rested.

A little more balanced by the NHL this year as last year Edmonton was at the top with +11 for having more rested games vs tired. This year there are three teams at the top with the highest ratio of +8.

The guy who developed the chart also mentions:

"Rest advantage doesn't seem to benefit home teams and rest disadvantage doesn't hurt road teams. So the games where rest matters (for whatever reason) are the ones where tired home teams play rested road teams, so let's look at those.

This is some analysis done back in 2015 on reddit. 226 games where the second game is against a rested team.

to me it seems like there is a little something to it. GF is below average, GA is above average, and Point % is lower.

I don't have the stats for it, but a third game in four nights (especially on the road) is referred to as a scheduled loss by the gambling community.

It would be neat to see the number of 3 in 4 nights specifically for each team.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. I feel like there is too much focus on back to back games, but its the 3 games in 4 nights that seem to really show some tired legs. I do remember reading an analysis on back to back games for goalies though, and it was clear that the second night was consistently worse than the first night for that position.
