Johansen is such a fake tough guy, I really don't like him.

Remember when he gave Stajan a cheap hit after a whistle then got dummied by Bennett? Good times.

Holy mackerel. After all of Poile's great re-signings to guys like Josi, Ellis, Arvidsson, Ekholm, and Jankrok, that's an incredible overpay.

Yikes! That's a lot for a 2nd line centre.
Good news is that Oilers will need to pony up big time to retain Draisaitl.

Did Poile have a stroke or something?

Draisaitl's getting $10M.

That is a lot of money though.

You just know Chiarelli dropped his pen somewhere and is staring into space, jaw agape.

I'm so glad we got to lock up Gaudreau and Monahan last off season before all these over-payments started.

Actually, this makes more sense. You're buying a Player's prime years outisde of control of ELC/RFA, but its still way, way too much.

Probably 1 mill too much but overall a great young player. Good for Preds.

Overpayment?

My goodness people toss that term around way too much.

Johansen has the 9th most points out of any center in the league over the last 4 seasons, and he is the youngest guy in the top 20, and he put up those numbers from his 21 to 24 year old seasons.

This is a great contract that buys 7 years of UFA.

Johanson is a $6M centre at best. Terrible deal.

Actually....letting it sink in a bit, 7 years of UFA for a player that you hope hits 70-80 points a season? This isnt outrageous.

It alters the market somewhat, but it may be a reasonable deal for the Preds, especially when you factor in his acquisition cost.
