This is precisely why Wotherspoon is extremely low on my list.
He's one of the oldest on this list, and had ample opportunity to come up and make enough of an impression to stick compared to many of our other prospects. I understand that defencemen have a longer road to the NHL, but in his four professional years so far, Wotherspoon has shown nothing to indicate that he'll be anything more than an AHL tweener that could do spot duty as a bottom pairing in the NHL on a worse team like the Canucks.
Considering he seems to be regressing from his solid stint in 2013-14 (remember when he thought media was trying to interview Gio instead of him after that one game?) that's a pretty alarming sign, and I'm surprised they even extended him a qualifying offer with Stone and Hamonic signed for the next three years and our d-core locked down. I wouldn't even call him a better defenceman than Bartkowski at this point, and Bart leaves a lot to be desired.
