MJK addressed a massive hole on the team, the lack of RW depth by trading for Chris Kreider Friday night. The deal shakes down like this:

To San Jose:
Chris Kreider (75ov)
2018 3rd
$2.5mill

To Anaheim:
Ryan Hartman
Conditional 2018 Top 20 1st

The deal means that there is less pressure going into Free Agency to try and snag a top 6 guy and with Kreider being an RFA, we can manage his contract a little and set the terms that work for us. We expect he will be signed on a 1 year deal.

While we are not thrilled to give up a 1st, we have lots of time to get one somewhere. But the addition of Kreider was worth it and we expect him to play a big role on this Top 6.

Yeah with the ratings coming out we were tight against the cap. Would have been able to make things work with Kreider but moving him out adds some flexibility. I think MJK got good value here. Hopefully Hartman can improve on his rookie year with the Hawks. Thanks for the talks MJK, always like going back and forth in negotiations.
