#NHL has a few ideas to "jazz up" Vegas exp draft selections in a made-for-TV event. Still deciding exactly how to present.

I heard they'll use a horrible camera angle that doesn't show the selection, but really makes you feel close to the presentation.

Seems to me that "jazzing up" stuff for TV these days means everything must be prolonged for "excitement". With so many picks, I expect at least a three hour show...

What are the odds the picks (or at least some of them) get leaked on twitter beforehand? I have to believe players/agents etc will know before they officially announce it (unless they'd prefer to have the players find out on TV in some ridiculous broadcast event).

The odds are extremely high. The expansion draft is June 18-20, with the announcement on June 21. I can't see every single pick remaining a secret until June 21.

Why would that be so crazy? It's entertainment.

Teams should submit their list of exposed players, inform their players if they've been exposed - then neither the players nor the team should know of Vegas' decision until the broadcast where they announce the selections.

And the expansion draft is MADE for TV. Only the NHL could screw it up.

The unprotected players were announced for the 2000 expansion draft.

Maybe they'll incorporate ads so the draft calls don't sync up with the play

Looks like it is confirmed that teams can trade assets to Vegas in exchange fot not selecting a player in the expansion draft:
