A lot of things in this article surprised me... one of which is that he's 50 years old. Wow, time does fly.

And John Wick, in which you play a former hitman who comes out of retirement to go after the mobster who kills your puppy, more than repays our devotion with its terrific scenes of combat (cutting back on the CGI and hyper-editing so you can actually see what’s going on, which is a novelty these days) and amusing worldbuilding (a hotel for hitmen!). It’s a blast.

Maybe this is why I like Banshee so much.

I believe Keanu's life has been filled with tragedy. His best friend River Phoenix died. His new baby was a stillborn. Then the mother of that child (his girlfriend) dies in a car crash. Oh yeah, and then his sister dies of cancer.

Anyways, might give a little context on why he's so charitable.
