Rumor has it that Leonardo DiCaprio has been approached about starring in Warner Bros. long-gestating Robotech movie.

What lends some credence to the rumor is that DiCaprio is old pals with Tobey Maguire, who is producing the Robotech movie and starred opposite Leo in The Great Gatsby.

Latino-Review claims Leo "wants to do" Robotech enough that he turned down a role in Star Wars: Episode VII to pursue it. Nick Mathieu was hired earlier this year to direct Robotech.

Aren't there four? As in, an entire reboot series?

Scratch that. I didn't even realize this was a live-action thing.

Um...yeah, wow. I'd love to see something like this.

I'm torn though, if I'd want an adaptation of either of the 3 main series...I am pretty sure that you couldn't boil any of them down into a 1 1/2 to 3 hour movie.

I'm torn because my inner childhood loves Robotech but growing up, I realized it was the spliced together, dubbed, and #######ized version of Macross (and other animes they cut together) which were better in many ways.

I don't think a movie length version would do the story justice either for a Western audience. Macross did it with Do You Remember Love in 1984 but that's a completely different format, market, and time.

This is not really a story you can tell as a one-off-movie. I don't know how they would do it. DYRL was a compressed fan-service film.

The point is the space fold to pluto and the slow journey back to earth only to seal it's fate.
