Honestly, a mental health crisis is obviously troubling, but in addition to mental health issues this guy is also a giant a-hole. No need to inconvenience 100,000 people when you could just uber to the foothills instead. This guy is a tit.

There is something seriously missing from this story. This does not, and has not, happened in my experience. (Not saying it isn't true...just that there is more to the story that isn't here.)

Totally. Like, I get the mental health crisis/mental breakdown thing, I do, we’ve all been there am I right? But like, I’m just not sure why someone who is considering putting a permanent end to their life can’t stop for one minute to consider all the commuters he’s completely inconvenienced by 5, 10, hell, even 20 minutes here.

Like, sure? do your business? cool? but maybe think of my time while you’re at it for once, you know?

Well yeah. Go have your breakdown somewhere other than on top of a bridge. It's stupid.

Revised trust deadlines were March 30, 2024. Not April 30, 2024. Bare trusts are just a small part of the new trust filing requirements, but the one that gave most accountants and tax preparers the greatest concern.

Failure to file penalties were basically $2,500 or 5% of the highest FMV of the year, whichever is greater. A $500K property at 25% is $25K. $25K for failure to file of an INFORMATION return. If that's not bullying, isn't that extortion?

My literal words to some clients were, "I understand what the CRA is trying to do. But the way they are implementing it, educating clients about it etc. It feels more like being bullied."

When asked by accountants, tax preppers, lawyers etc. about extensions for bare trusts, CRA has previously said, they'd give an extension from March 30, 2024 to April 2, 2024. 3 day extension months in advance and then exempting (basically cancelling) the bare trust requirement. Absolute bull####.

As much as some don't like to hear what accountants have to say, make no mistake, we are on the taxpayer's side, not the CRA's side.

Kind of wild that the bridge thing is still going on, can we throw some nets down and hit him with a tranquillizer dart?

Well in fairness that Penbrooke thing went on for like, what, 30+ hours?

As much as I give them a hard time, the Cops are being eminently patient.

Conversely, the other option is just....don't let him down.

"You wanted to be up there son! You want to get down now? Theres only 1 way."

Given all the people on the memorial who decided, due to being inconvenienced, that one-way roads and no-turn signs were suddenly optional, causing everyone else who is not a complete loser to be inconvenienced, I think the punishment should be having to go up on the bridge and stay up there until bridge man comes off, the same way he comes off.

When I am needing time and space to have my thoughts to myself I look for the busiest place I can find. That way I can really concentrate.

Sadly, somebody somewhere could use the help our resources can provide, but someone else is high as a kite and is unintentionally using those resources. Crapy situation for both people for sure.

One will come down and the other won’t get the help they need.

The Herald has a photo of the guy holding up a piece of paper that has "Cops raped my wife. Tried 2 kill me" written on it.

Good news. It looks like he came down with help from police around 6:00 and the bridges are open again.
