Sports is entertainment. If im not being entertained, ill let the product know it. This is pro hockey not the ballet that fans are booing. If Ott doesnt like it, maybe he should get a job out of the public eye.

My thoughts exactly, Ott is a joke. I didn't realize fans need to coddle the top athletes in their profession...oh they also get paid millions of dollars, DO BETTER!

It's happening again tonight (booing). What a terrible 1st period against Montreal.

I honestly couldn't help it. They were horrific.

It was a double minor, and I don't think they managed to even gain the offensive zone with the puck the entire first 2 mins. I think they finished a 4 min man advantage with one shot.

I didn't even want to boo, it just happened.
Yeah, I had a similar experience at a Flames/Thrashers game a few years ago. (This one here: http://espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=291209003). Flames were having some of the worst PPs I had ever seen, and midway through there was a moment where Phaneuf was standing with the puck behind his own net for about 15 seconds, and over that time it seemed to go from a smattering of boos to everyone in the building yelling for him to just do something with the puck.
After the game, the media was all over the fans for booing Phaneuf, but anyone at the game could have seen that it was mostly a spur-of-the-moment reaction to a brutal sequence, and while my part was more groaning or yelling rather than booing, I wasn't ashamed to be part of that moment.

I only pray we can avoid such a situation next season if we're not projected to do well again.
Don't blame the fans of the visiting team for this. You out number them, so out cheer them. It's the Flames' fans' fault.

Good on Ott for speaking his mind.

Ott should be glad he is hearing those boos. Was I booing when the Oilers beat the Flames 8-2? Hell no. I gave my tickets away, In fact I didn't even watch on TV.

The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. Flames owners/management/players should be hoping 19,000+ boo birds show up at the Dome these next few seasons.

Brilliant of Ott to call out the season ticket holders during renewal season. The Sabres were garbage this season (and last). I would imagine some of them are looking for a reason to get out. Well Steve Ott just gave them one.

You suck Ott.

You mean, like

"We want 10! We want 10!"

Something about Buffalo, sucking and embarrassing home efforts...

There's no upside dissing your own fans, the people who pay your cheque . . . . . which is why the Twitter apology, which looks like it was written by a Sabres PR flak, was very fast in coming.

The Bleacher Bums, the Gallery Gods, pay their money and they can boo anytime they want, classless or not. Shut up, take it and keep your eyes on the ice.

Ott said in the post game scrum against the Habs last night that he would have boo'd the Sabres too last night for their performance.

Canucks fans felt mighty in our building the other night because we are terrible this season. We'll have the last laugh when we're coming out of our rebuild with a good young team and they're dismantling their cup less roster.
