Default 25th Anniversary of Terminator 2

Released July 3, 1991 so technically it was yesterday.

Makes one feel very old.

Probably still the best sequel ever, and it's really only in the last 5 years or so that the effects have started to appear dated.

Yeah the special effects are definitely a little dated. It's still a great action movie that I watch every time I come across it on TV. It stands up after 25 years, so probably will keep standing up.

Axl Rose's whining "You Could Be Mine" sure doesn't. Ugh.

And poor Edward Furlong. What could have been!

I remember my best friend referring to it as his favorite movie before we even saw it. It is one movie that has aged fairly well imo. Only complaint being the stunt double shots are pretty obvious. Didnt quite have the technology or budget I guess to CGI Arnold's face over the stunt double.

My parents were at a function in the Banff Springs Hotel and my older brother made the executive decision that we would order it on PPV. It was probably the first R rated movie I'd ever seen. What a great time.

Ha ha. For sure. At one point Arnie is jumping his bike into that culvert thing and it looks like the stuntman has a rubber head. Maybe he did.

Details like that might be due to me probably seeing the movie at least 50 times in the 25 years.

Did anyone see "Genisys"? I had very low expectations. It started out really well, with the wicked recreations and different angles and perspectives from the first movie, but sort of waned as it went on. Worth a shot though if you like the Terminator universe. It's on Netflix.

Loved the bridge between Cold War politics and AI at the time. Still love it. I think it makes a social statement - way before its time - on how technology may escape us one day. Still looking forward to self-driving cars, augmented reality, and manned missions to Mars though.

What special Effects don't stand up? I much prefer the effects in T2 to the animated movies that pose as live action with cgi films today.

I think it is the greatest action movie ever made. T1 has aged horribly, there are very few modern movies in the same stratosphere, maybe a couple of the Marvel movies or Fury Road. Not much else compares. The first Die Hard is up there but is a very different type of action movie with a much smaller scope and scale.

Matrix, Indiana Jones, Aliens. Not a ton of other contenders IMO.

I think the time portal lightning and the passing through the bars by the T-1000 are starting to look pretty aged. A lot still stands up though.

Predator is still kick ass. It's probably aged the best of Arnold's 80's movies.

It came up when I googled it but I didn't include it. It is definitely on the shortlist.

I think the special effects in T2 look better than most effects today because a great deal of them are practical effects.

Predator and Harry from Harry and the Hendersons, both scared the crap out of me as a kid and both were played by the same actor!

Incredible movie, probably the best action movie ever made. Certainly one of the best sequels ever made, right there with Godfather. If we were to say quality vs the original, then this is the best sequel ever made imo.

Couldnt agree more. I think its fantastic.

Just one of those great movies. Sold more Harley Davidson Fatboys than anything else in history.

I was 10 when this movie came out. For some reason I remember going to see Naked Gun 2 1/2 with my brother and cousin, after that was over we all snuck into T2 and thought it was the greatest movie ever.

In honor of this thread, I'm going to watch T2 Bluray with extended scenes tonight.

I think the only effects that are 'dated' (and I use that term loosely) is when T-1000 rises from the black and white floor of the insane asylum before he stabs mall cop in the eye. I think everything else is wunderbar

That was fine by me. The only thing I can think of that really sucked was when he jumped off the nitroglycerin truck and did the tuck and roll. So bad, but the rest of the move is so good. It's more than a classic, it's still one of my favorite movies. Definitely the best action movie evar.
