Default Home Cell Booster

Hey I am looking for a cheapish cell phone booster to boost the cell signal in our home. We live on an acerage and inside our house it gets really spotty. We want to drop the landline but cant rely on the current service... Dont want one that will need to be connected to the cell either...

thanks

zBoost makes some great units. For around $350 you can get something that will give most homes 5 bars service.

350 seems a bit spendy... Any eBay ones any good?

You mean the ones from China? They work if you buy the right unit, but there might be a chance that your cell carrier will say it causes an issue with feedback to the tower. Not worth the hassle.

I actually bought a lower end zBoost unit for $200 and built my own Yagi Antenna. Works great in about 2,000 sq ft of space.

I'd personally recommend the Wilson Electronics boosters. I've used them in the past with really awesome results.

An office I used to work in was awful for signal; the fact it was a basement level suite didn't help matters. BlackBerry Bold and Curve handsets were constantly showing 1-2 bars at the most. Calls often dropped, data unavailable, etc. We installed a Wilson unit and it was a night and day difference.

I've looked at a couple reviews between the Wi-Ex zBoost and the Wilson ones and Wilson seems to have an edge in performance. YMMV, so do your homework.
