They should be. The Reformer/Alliance core that's leading the PC's have completely alienated the social left of the Torrie base. The best way I can describe the Conservatives at the moment is that they are the 2009-10 Calgary Flames. This is their one last kick at the can with that core, and then that entire party has to be purged because they are so unlikeable and have so little trust from the Canadian population in their representation of Canada.

This will be a devastating loss for the Torries tonight, and we'll have to see them completely reinvent themselves to become more of the Joe Clark era Conservatives if they want a chance at bringing back the Red Torries into thier fold.

Devastating like the 34 seats and horrible scandals / corruption that almost wiped the federal liberals off the national landscape in 2011? That devastating - in that they may never recover from it. Like, that devastating?

I'd rather see the conservatives become progressive again, and the Reformers/Alliance can have their old place back if they want to break away. I don't like the idea of a simplistic left/right, two-party political system.

Which channel would have the best coverage of the elections? Also is there a way to follow a video feed online?

I've always followed CTVs coverage ever since I was a kid. Not changing today.

CBC online:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWFNl0K18A4

They also have a nice dashboard for looking at various ridings:
http://www.cbc.ca/includes/federalel...ard/index.html

CBC will probably have a bit of a liberal bias, so if that bothers you then I would look elsewhere.

Actual conversation observed today:

Person 1: Does anyone know what the score is in the election today? I'm at work and can't check.
Person 2: I saw on Global at lunch that the Liberals are ahead by 9%.

*face palm*

Stockwell Day just told CBC viewers that the polls close in BC at 8pm. They actually close at 7pm.

Accidentally on purpose?

Exactly like that. The Liberals had to completely reinvent themselves the past four years. The conservatives will need to purge that entire reformer core if they want to be a threat next election.

CBC hinting at 'cool graphics' coming tonight in their special. Peter is concerned about whether they will work or not.

CNN-style holograms coming?

My election night prediction:

Many people tune into election coverage after watching the Jays stomp the Royals 12-4. Pundits and hosts are excitedly watching as results roll in. The Liberals hold a slight lead over the Conservatives as polls report but it's way too close to call. The Conservatives pull closer and closer as more polls in the west report detailed numbers. It's too close to call! Canadians are on the edge of their seats. They put on a pot of coffee and settle down with family to watch the future of our nation shape. Ballot counting stretches well into the early morning hours and, finally, at exactly 4:20AM a tired Justin Trudeau steps onto the stage at his campaign headquarters, takes a bong rip fit for only a world leader, and accepts his place as the new prime minister of Canada.

Definitely double-check your polling station...you may not be voting where you did last time. Just came back from voting for my local communist and/or fascist, and apparently a lot of people are showing up at the wrong place.

I went and voted at the local Baptist church. It's a good spot because it's got a large enough atrium to wait in line out of the rain. Took me 20 minutes all in.

I one time went to the wrong polling station as my address had been changed by the post office. They allowed me to vote there anyways.

I get to vote in my old high school. Can't believe it's been almost 9 years since I've been in there.

Just voted at an elementary school.

4 different tables set up for receiving your card and then behind them to mark your X.

6 people in there voting, 14 people working.

Just came from voting at the Connaught school. There was no line at all and I was in and out in seconds.

I assume there will be a GDT for tonight and we won't keep going in here?
