I thought the concern would have been his back as he pretty much became a pretzel for a second there. Didn't even consider an artery... that's some scary stuff.
Brutal injury. Dude is going to have a crazy scar down his leg. Had a guy I played with break his femur in a game and it was the worst injury I have ever seen.
Man, that artery could be life threatening, no? I believe that's how one of the legends died back in the day. Howie Morenz maybe?
Bad injury, hope he can heal quickly and get back on track next year.
He had 4 fractures in his leg, and then because he was so wrapped up in hockey suffered a nervous breakdown and then had a heart attack collapsing in his room on the way to the bathroom.

I've seen a guy break his femur before and the road to recovery for him was 11 months to be able to walk some what normally. He has a steel rod in place permanently to stabilize his leg.
I remember Kurtis Foster of the Wild breaking his femur on a race to the puck for icing. Wikipedia says it happened March 20, 2008, and that he was skating by October. Didnt start playing again until February 2009. Long road to recovery for Fiala. Wish him well.
Great video on Kurtis Foster's long road to recovery.

That's what I was thinking. It's hard to imagine ever being back to 100% after an injury like that. Although he's only 20, so hopefully his youth will work in his favor.
Updated the original post. There really is only one source that he suffered a ruptured femoral Artery. Best to leave that part out until it is confirmed.
