How can you even have an opinion on his qualifications? You've seen a couple interviews and press conferences... maybe read an article or two about him as assistant GM? Hardly coming from a place of authority at all... Very confused by people saying these kinds of things.

Taking a while to get to 5000

If this does come to pass, I wonder who takes over the AGM spot for the Flames?
Also, this should (maybe?) calm the nerves of anyone worried his ascension would mean the end of Treliving's run here.

Good. Now lets fleece the rookie GM!
They owe us for the Regehr trade.

What are you getting at? Do you feel he isn't qualified? If so, why?
I feel he is probably qualified now for 2 reasons:
1) He has spent the last 6(?) years in all facets of management. Right from scouting to trades (yes, he has had input there apparently), cap management, signings - Conroy has been sitting on everything getting experience in everything related to becoming a GM. That was what he signed up for, and that is why he has been moved around a lot. 2 seasons ago he was the GM of the Adirondack Flames, for instance. He has been mentored all this time by Feaster, Burke and now Treliving, as well as the rest of the management team in getting him up to speed with what they do and how they go about doing it. IIRC, he basically got to do everything in hockey ops at one point or another thus far.
2) He is actually (rumored) getting interest in that role from an external team.
Why would you feel he isn't qualified by now? How long should it take? Is there some type of test that he needs to pass? What exactly has he been working on that you feel he hasn't done a good enough job with?
I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of his duties for the last 6 years, but I would guess that he has been doing a good enough job to be retained, and now to start being considered from a different team. Makes sense, no?

This is literally nothing more than the re-reporting of Lebrun and everyone mentioning that Connie could be a candidate in Buffalo.

I'd be cool with it.
Talk about a polar opposite personality from the previous GM though, haha. Which, from some things I've heard, might be what Pegula wants.

Can't see them going this route unless a POHO is also joining the organization. I figured Lombardi was a shoe in for the GM spot

Based on the tone from the media it sounds like it's going to get done, but I get the impression that if it doesn't it would be because Tree wasn't game with the offer or something else with the structure.

Did people forget Treliving was also an assistant GM for quite some time before coming here? He's done great work as "green" GM now and I think Conroy is on that same trajectory.

If Connie becomes GM of the Sabres does Johnny to Buffalo become an E5?

That was covered when Sutter 'gave' them Lydman!

Hearing the interview process has begun in Buffalo for GM.
Just talked to the Kings. Still no request to talk to Lombardi.

Conroy obviously would have learn a lot from Treliving the past few years but if I was a Sabres fan I wouldn't be comfortable with Conroy leading a critical rebuild.

Sad to see him have to go elsewhere to finally get a chance. The timing simply never worked out here.
I give Connie a lot of credit for doing it the right way. Most players would not have been willing to accept the roles he has in order to learn how to do the job the right way.

This is not a done deal. He's not "to be named". He is a name linked to the job.
Thread should be titled "Conroy mentioned as possible Buffalo GM Candidate"
