Sure it could be, but Martial might be hurt and hasn't impressed. Try any one of, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Memphis, Young, Martial, etc;
Those five are who I really want to see together.

And yet hes 4 years older.

not that surprising though when you consider that Ibra is a freak and Rooney has been in the league for 14 or 15 years. That's a lot of mileage.

I know that nobody follows Scottish Football here, but Joe Barton suspended by Rangers for 3 weeks for practice fight. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...eeks/90681930/

At what stage of Beckham's career are you talking about here and when was he ever hid on the wing?
Not to mention, if you have someone that doesn't run well the wing would be the last place to try and hide them. Sorry, doesn't make any sense.

Apparently Kane damaged ligaments in his ankle on Sunday and is expected to be out around 8 weeks. It's difficult to predict these things of course, so that is a fairly tentative timeline.

The LA and beyond stage. With the new formations these days you can somewhat hide on the wing. Like in 4-2-3-1 it's the 2 central midfielders or the middle triangle who are the lawnmowers from box to box.

Yeah, I can't think of when either. Even when he was slow in L.A, he was their CM. Milan? PSG?
EDIT:

kind of. he would be either on the wing or right center of a 5 man midfield. 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 with Keane. Same thing in Milan.
Could United play an Italian-like 3-5-2? would it work?

van Gaal tried it and it failed miserably. Generally think it doesn't really work in the PL.
It's hardly rocket science ... drop Rooney, play 4-3-3 with Pogba and two of Herrera, Schneiderlin and Carrick in midfield, plus two of Martial, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Memphis on the wing.

But apparently dropping Rooney is more complicated than rocket science.

Perhaps, as I only followed him fairweather in LA.
That said, this is how I recall.

well ... there is that theory that Rooney has some kind of clause in his contract that guarantees him playing time. It's obviously far fetched and I have been dismissive of it in the past myself, but really, what other explanation is there? Everybody sees and knows that he's past it and shouldn't be a starter. We can all laugh about Moyes, van Gaal and Mourinho for various reasons, but they have still been managers - and successful ones at that, more or less - for many years. Do we really believe that they are the only ones who don't see it? I doubt it.
The good thing is that the press is starting to turn on him, and that's a big surprise to me. His media buddies have all been finding excuses for him for years, but it seems the tide is finally turning. The only who's still defending him is Gary Neville lol. Right now, I highly doubt that there'd be any backlash in the media if Mourinho dropped him. Now or never.

For a while I thought Van Gaal was brought in to be the sacrificial lamb, clean house and move players so the next manager wouldnt have to deal with it.

What some players can get in contracts never surprises me, so I could see it. If that's the case Mourinho should just make him a deal that you'll always be first off the bench so long as it's not an injury sub (like don't put him at FB for instance...). He still gets decent playing time and in a limited, 30-40 minute roll off the bench he could probably still be effective. But as I said until Mourinho solves this riddle he's probably destined to get himself fired in a year or two.

What could United's penalty possibly be for not fulfilling that clause?
He can exit at next window? Money?
