Wonder if the Flames are thinking about trading Hiller or Ramo. Ramo now has the better numbers of the two with a slightly better GAA and save pct. I know Hiller is signed for next year but what do you think you could get for him if you re-upped with Ramo and went with Ramo and Ortio next year?

Sounds like Treliving is avoiding the trade market to address immediate needs. I'm not sure why the need to go out of the FA goalie pool in NA to get a suitable replacement for an injured Ortio.

What if they sign Delauriers and promote Theissen or Carr to backup here. And trade Hiller or Ramo for picks or Prospects? Part of Trekivings rebuild? Ramo a UFA

Honestly would Rather DesLauriers back up in CGY if anything. If we learned anything from the Danny taylor and Leland Irving years, depth AHL guys are scary in the NHL. And not in the good way.

actually Deslauriers is a great analysis of how to ruin a player through terrible development.
Great prospect and the Oilers kept keeping him in their system, but were sharing an AHL team at the time iirc. he couldn't get AHL starts and sat. and sat. and sat. Then they expected him to be the heir apparent notwithstanding they had done nothing to get him ready.
it wouldn't surprise me if his career didn't follow a Tim Thomas or Dwayne Rolosen path, where he peaked well after he turned 30.

Just looked up his KHL stats. 4-8-1 in 13 games? 2.66 GAA and a .903 SV%. There HAS to be better lingering around in NA.

Thats by NHL standards, maybe KHL is different? Maybe its good for his team?
I guess the bottom line is, is it better then Brad Thiessen? Or maybe he'll be backup.
One other advantage here... we could sign him to a AHL contract, and he doesn't count against our 50-contract limit in case we feel like pulling some guys off the UFA wire (to help either with our depth, or send some guys down to the farm and help our AHL team get into the playoffs)

Not sure how much stock I would put into this rumour.
The Colorado Eagles acquired a full time goalie from Alaska this morning and released the emergency one. It looks like they are planning for long term without Doug Carr.
Quote:
Colorado:
Add Aaron Crandall, G traded from Alaska
Delete Tate Maris, G released as emergency backup goaltender

Also, in the Huska interview tonight he said that Carr will be starting some games in the upcoming schedule and that if he played well, he could very well steal the net away from Thiessen.

this would make sense if they are on the verge of dealing a goalie?

6-8 weeks.
Bringing in a new ECHL goalie suggests Carr isn't going back.
IF Deslauriers signs, that means too many AHL goalies.
IF Deslauriers signs, something is up.

The thing is, it doesn't make sense to me. The only goalie worth calling up is Ortio, but he's hurt. Too many ahl goalies means one is going to the NHL and I don't see Carr or Thiessen as relevant to the big club.
Even at 6 weeks, Ortio would need to be conditioned.
Unless Ortio's hurt worse than we thought? Or they're treading an injured Ortio?

I have a weird feeling Ramo might be on the move and Deslaurier would be signing as backup in the NHL.
This rumour, coupled with his recent showcase, might suggest Ramo gets traded while his value is as high as possible (save of the year on the highlight reel and solid, solid play).

BTW, the were rumblings yesterday CAL was going to sign G Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers from the KHL, but that appears off.

Turns out Jeff Deslauriers won't be a #Flame. He had until this morning to sign Flames contract, did not and the offer is off the table.

Probably had to sign in time to go on waivers and clear before the trade deadline tomorrow.
