Flames NOT signing G Jeff Deslauriers

With Ortio out, I'm hearing #Flames close to signing former Oiler/Duck G Jeff Deslauriers. They need his release from Dynamo Riga of KHL

Interesting...

Really? You'd think there were better options.

I doubt he gets an NHL deal. Probably just a replacement for Ortio.

He would have to clear waivers to get an NHL deal.

This would just be an AHL deal I'm sure, it has nothing to do with Calgary

Better options for willing AHL goalies? List them.
It's a temporary spot of weakness while we wait for MacDonald and Gillies to turn pro. Theissen has been good enough and I like Carr too. Competition never hurts I guess.

n00b!

I'd rather this than moving assets for someone given the Flames have people in the wings.

Yeah the Flames are very weak in the G department as far as depth wise until some guys graduate from college and/or turn pro....this addresses things as a short term stopgap.

Who cares about willing? I'm okay with 'no other choice.'
Ilya Bryzgalov for one. He was free a few days ago.

Free in the sense he was on waivers, but surely he has a much more expensive contract than Deslauriers will garner.

That's exactly who I came in here to post about. Seems like he could've been better insurance for them.
Hopefully the Ramo deal is a good one. It has to be imminent if they're trying to find an option in net, right?

Bryzgalov also went home and had his contract terminated rather than play in the AHL.

I thought I read that they terminated his contract. I figured he was literally free. Claim him and sign him to AHL minimum or whatever.
Granted, at this point his talent and Deslauriers' is probably a saw-off.

Oh I'm not sure about that. Either way I'd rather stay away from Bryz at this point.

Ah. Well that makes more sense. Plus the organization seems to have some good mojo going and Bryz is insane, so not a good guy to add to a team.
I just find it strange that they're hauling a guy all the way from Latvia for this.

Not the rumours I want to hear. It's an AHL rumour. I want to read about flames rumours.
