Why is it showing the Kings ahead of us in the standings when we're tied in points? Don't we hold the tiebreaker on them? We have more wins too. I know they have a game in hand on us, but this isn't baseball..

If two teams are tied the team with the most games remaining is ranked higher regardless of ROW or wins.

6 teams battling for 4 spots. I believe you can eliminate the Seguin-less Stars, and Avs, at this point.
Pacific/Central
DIV #2 Canucks - 61gp - 73pts
DIV #3 Kings - 60gp - 70pts
W/C #1 Jets - 63gp - 74pts
W/C #2 Wild - 61gp - 71pts
Flames - 61gp - 70pts
Sharks - 62gp - 68pts
ROW order: VAN (32) > MIN/CAL (30) > LA/SJ (28) > WPG (25)

The first tiebreaker is points percentage.

It's because of the game in hand.
After that I think it's ROWs, then who had more points head to head in the season series.

Going after Vancouver and LA in the pacific might still be the Flames best chance.
Despite the disappointment around here in the aftermath of the game on Long Island and the uncertainty around Gio's injury, they are still right in there.
I still believe!

To catch Minnesota or Winnipeg: win the remaining head to head match, plus win one more of the other remaining games. Not easy, but we only need to beat one or the other, not both.
To catch Vancouver: win two more games than them, with one less game left. This is our third straw.
To catch LA: win the head to head game, and have the same record. This I'm guessing is going to be borderline impossible.
I'm also guessing 96 points will not be enough to make it.

Why is catching LA "borderline impossible" when the Flames need a better record to catch the other teams?

Short version: "they're LA".
Long version: They're the best team of that bunch, and have started to play like it.

Okay, I don't dispute that they're LA and as the defending champs they simply turned it on for the 8 game winning streak. Still, the other best team of the bunch is Minnesota. They've been going wild since Coach Yeo went nuts on his team and also getting Dubnyk.

True, and I always felt they were better than their record so it doesn't really surprise me that they've made some noise.
I just think Minnesota is more a good team on a hot streak than actually awesome. LA is awesome. We can also go hot, and Wild can go cold, but I don't see LA not being awesome in the spring.
(although honestly I'm not feeling very good about our playoff chances right now)

A Jets win today puts the Flames in third in the division, but a Kings win keeps the Jets within 4 points of the Flames with 2 games in hand.
No matter what, I hope it isn't a 3-point game.

At this point, I don't the Kings will miss so I would rather have a Jets loss in regulation.

With a regulation game between Winnipeg and LA, our chances go up. 3 point game and they go down

LA on the slippery slope again. They are having a very hard time being consistent this season, much like Boston.

Based on the play of Winnipeg and Minnesota right now, it might be 3rd in the Pacific or nothing for us. Things seem to change so fast; even just a week ago everyone had LA as a lock, but now they are on the outside looking in again.
