I wouldn't forget about the divisional races either. SJ and Vancouver are right there too

I just can't see the Kings missing. The whole central division had stepped up and are in the hunt. Bottom line is the flames better start playing better of they're going to have a chance.

Who is the poster who brings up the remaining schedule and Quality of Competition remaining for each team in the race? Could use that pretty soon.

Winnipeg and Calgary at 66 and 63% according to sportsclub stats. So very tight too when you look at the standings.

Was just going to say. Bet this thread only gets updated after Jets wins.

Yeah, the top 3 of the Central looks to be solidifying, with St Louis now 6 points clear of the Wild Cards, but the Pacific is still pretty open.
Arizona and Edmonton are pretty much already eliminated, and Anaheim is looking pretty safe, but the other 4 teams are within 2 points of each other and any of them could make it and even get home-ice in the first round, or any of them could just as easily miss the playoffs.
The next few weeks are going to be very important for the Flames' season. Between now and Valentine's Day, they have San Jose three times, LA twice, plus Winnipeg and Vancouver. If they do well, they could be in a position where they're not worrying about the Wild Cards. If they do poorly, they probably won't have a chance at the Wild Cards.

After the Arizona game, 6/10 of the following games are 4-pointers. This one road trip is going to decide whether we make the playoffs or not.

Easily the biggest trip of the season when it comes to playoffs. Kind of interesting that Ortio has entered the mix at said time when our goaltending has been poor. Really curious to see what's going to happen in net.

Every set of games from here on out will continue to be the most important. It's crunch time.
Unfortunately sending Ortio down is the only option. What else can they do when Ramo is healthy? Sending either one down means losing them for nothing, and you can't trade one electing Ortio to be a good full in with only one or two games under his belt

yeah, it's a shame that they have a 5 day layoff, because it probably means no more games for Ortio.

I'm hoping somehow they let Ortio go for a run... How did Anaheim go into the playoffs with 2 rookies goalies? Surely there are ways to make it happen and the traditional way of "sticking with your man" is how you end up with Pavelecs and MAFs.

Yup. I could see flames maybe trying to get something for Ramo if they are out of it by deadline. If flames aren't out of it and traded Ramo , what happens if Hiller or Ortio got hurt? Nothing left on the farm to call up.
Ortio played well last year, has played great this season in the AHL, and looked good last night. He just needs to wait another 6 months. Really think Ramo is not re-signed and Ortio gets back up position next year. Better for him to learn from a veteran like Hiller than Ramo in my opinion.

It is nice to see that even though the Flames have been struggling a bit lately, the other teams that they're fighting with have been struggling as well. Over their last 10 games, LA has 12 points, the Flames and Nucks each have 11, and San Jose has 9.
